Been told Eastwood is also injured so as it stands we don’t have a fit keeper for Saturday! Club is obviously trying to get an emergency loan in.

Has an emergency keeper loan got to be playing at 2 levels below your own or no appearances at your level or above or something?
Posted by: diehardmariner, April 3, 2024, 1:25pm; Reply: 7
Can be anything but Premier League and has to be on a 7-day loan, which can be extended until the point you have a goalkeeper fit and available.

He caught or punched everything that came his way and his kicking was pretty decent as well. All in all, pretty good. I just wish he'd stood up to the penalty. So many are whacked down the middle these days, you stand a better chance of saving them by standing still rather than diving. I suppose keepers dive because they want to make it look like they are trying!

We signed the wrong one from them! shudda had that Lo Tonda or whatever his name is- bloke at Donny.

Mind you, the bloke who's posted this on twitter has got more things wrong than right, and would be a shame for Eastwood having waited for his chance, is now injured!

Didn’t see any sign of injury during the game on Monday and assuming they all had the day off yesterday so not sure when this injury was incurred. No doubt all will be revealed by the end of the week.

If the rumours are true I feel like this is something the club will try and conceal until the last possible moment, they've always been quite cloak and dagger with injuries and they won't want to give a whiff to Newport that we are even more vulnerable in the GK position that we normally are. Need some spies down at cheapside!

Praying for a Wayne Henderson rather than a Jake Kean.

Some very experienced options available from Championship level down.  Jordan Archer at QPR, no minutes this year.  Frank Fielding at Stoke, no minutes this year and has dropped down to League Two a few years back on an emergency loan with Salford.

Locally, Matt Ingram hasn't featured for Hull since they signed a new 'keeper in Jan.

If only it was that easy, eh?

Even if we have to contribute a significant amount to the wages, the cost of that over a few weeks is a drop in the ocean compared to what is at stake here.

You would hope a mid table championship side (no risk of relegation/no chance of promotion) would have a quality 2nd or 3rd choice keeper. They get games, we get get a first choice (whilst Dave Moore tries to wash the eye lash out for Eastwood).

I’d hope there’s quite a few that would jump at the chance to get a few games towards the end of the season if they’re nowhere near it where they are. Especially as it’s only short term and it’s a great opportunity to get yourself in the shop window close to the summer window.

• any Club (or Premier League club) in any matches in the relevant league or first team
cup competitions (other than the EFL Trophy); and/or

Posted by: diehardmariner, April 4, 2024, 9:52am; Reply: 54
Can only sign an emergency loan 'keeper if you have no professional 'keeper available to play.  EFL description of professional is one who has started five more games at either PL or EFL level (Football League Trophy doesn't count).

Eastwood has started 15 games this season.

In the nightmare scenario of Eastwood not available and we can't get anyone in (highly unlikely as it is), we'll be faced with giving a debut to 16-year-old Seb Auton between the sticks.  Other youth team 'keeper Will Mitchell is out on loan at Barton Town.

Regulation 58 states that all Professional Goalkeepers at the club must be unavailable. As Cartwright and Eastwood have more than 5 career appearances in the EFL, FA Cup or League Cup, they are considered to be a professional goalkeeper.

I’m pretty sure you can’t sign anyone til the end of the season. The rules state you can get a weekly loan that is renewable every seven days depending on the condition of your other keepers. Once they are fit the loanee goes back.
