Let’s get either Man Utd or Southampton ticked off please but we need the same approach as today, hard graft and scrappy play, Luton didn’t like that

I would be hoping for no 6 and that the home team would win the replay, we would be guaranteed a place in round 6.

Yknow what id take anyone now, today showed me this cup run feels special no matter who we get, dont necessarily need to cash in on a big club now, if we got through, the feeling that we could go through again would be just as exciting if not more so

After the fishy puns all programme on final score this afternoon.

We have got to be on TV for the replay .

Plus we are the lowest team left in the cup.

With the next round being a poxy midweek, if it’s an away day it needs to be a northern team or someone like Leicester…or anyone at home.

Just been looking at the FA site...

https://www.thefa.com/competitions/thefacup/fixtures

There are five replays pencilled in for next Tuesday (7th Feb) but only four of them seem to have a chance of being changed?

Am I thinking correctly that the Sheff Utd v Wrexham game is going to be nailed on for TV seeing as though it doesn't state theirs might change?

Or maybe the other 4 are subject to change because the TV companies want them! There is a potential for it to be on the Wednesday night.

its not a conspiracy, its the viewing figures that Wrexham will undoubtably bring in with their new found support in the u s of a! search fa cup on google and you'd have thought that they'd won that, the Americas cup, 6 nations and the Ryder cup all at once there's that much coverage.

its unlikely to be sheff wendy and Blackburn v brum is tomorrow. id say its down to tonight's game also. we're hardly a glamour tie to the neutral but, we are the 2nd lowest ranked team so who knows

All the other ties involve clubs with huge populations. Grimsby v Luton is the only one of the ties between two towns. It would probably draw the smallest audience.

Not entirely, Grimsby / Cleethorpes and Luton are both considerably bigger than Burnley and Ipswich respectively.

That's interesting Poojah, given what crowds they get. Ipswich is similar to us, on the coast out on a limb. It demonstrates the potential of a successful football club here in Lincolnshire with the right investment

Completely different - Ipswich is the only league club in Suffolk and the only one Suffolk has ever had. Same as Norwich in Norfolk. Nearly all football fans from those two counties will support those two clubs. It would by like Lincolnshire without Lincoln City and Scunthorpe ever having been League clubs. Remember Lincoln are as old as Town. The support in the county has always been split in 2 and since 1950 in 3 (and that’s ignoring Boston).

Got to say I'm not a fan of this situation. If we drew a Premier League side and then lost the replay it would be gutting. We're victims of our own success, I suppose.

Isn't it 60%?

9 out of our 15 possible opponents either are a premier league team or include a premiership team and a replay is due.

Anyone at home for me, if away then Moan Utd I suppose although that will bring out Luton’s strongest perhaps as per Poojah above, after that if Wednesday and Derby get through them, then Blades, Leicester or Leeds.

Said this yesterday and can guarantee this is what will happen, 100% nailed on. Man Utd away in the next round, million quid on the table and we’ll go out on pens/last minute scuff in the replay.

Having a wry laugh at this. I'm picturing similar to the Huddersfield cup match when we played ace but let two late goals in, the winner bobbling in off Aswad's bum.

At the end of the day, you have to give credit where credit is due. We are in the draw for the last 16 games in the FA cup.

Ask Liverpool fans how they feel. Gutted I'd say.

After seeing off Luton, Man U away.

At the end of the day, you have to give credit where credit is due. We are in the draw for the last 16 games in the FA cup.

Ask Liverpool fans how they feel. Gutted I'd say.

After seeing off Luton, Man U away.

I can’t help but feel our best route to Man U away is through Fleetwood at home.

Last 8 games, it's the round of 16! 2 wins from a semi-final at our London home.

Any road will do as long as we end up at Man U away, plus a money bonus of beating both Luton and Fleetwood on the way.

I absolutely despise the bl##dy One Show!! I’m gonna have to put my hatred to one side for a single night, god damn it!

I would think it will be shown live on ITV 4 prior to the Derby West Ham game as that programme starts at 7.00pm and I'm sure it was on the BBC and ITV at the same time for the last draw.

I genuinely don’t care who our ball draws tonight. It means nothing until the replay is finished anyway. If it were to be a big draw then that maybe would help getting the replay being televised but I think even that’s unlikely.

To be fair winning 3 successive cup ties against opposition from a higher level and then getting a draw against another one is quite something

The media keep referring to the last time we made the fourth round but it only took one game to get there when we were entering the competition in Round 3

We might not go any further than this replay but credit where it's due I say

were in the draw. we may not win the replay. but WERE IN THE DRAW!!!!!

the 5th round draw at that. even my neighbours are going to tune in just because we are. i think this achievement alone for the club is a success.

I would laugh if its Man Utd at home and we win the replay, none of the glory supporting girl privates in Grimsby who support Man U (I know plenty of the twits) won't be able to get a ticket!

It's definitely a high class problem complaining about a poor 5th round draw which won't be shown live to a global audience of tens of millions. A year ago we are slumming it in the FA Trophy and went out at Kidderminster.

It s only a bit shite because it's midweek. But it s not the one or two we all really hoped for. Can't be that many div 4 sides that will have potentially got to round 5 with such underwhelming draws

Working our way up the leagues, slowly getting more difficult.

We pi$$ed League 1, will see off Championship Luton in the replay, then onto a low end Premier league side.

Man Utd in our sights.

It's definitely a high class problem complaining about a poor 5th round draw which won't be shown live to a global audience of tens of millions. A year ago we are slumming it in the FA Trophy and went out at Kidderminster.

Get off your high horse. Its a excrement draw - if we get too it-  miles away, on a weeknight, which means time off work, a half full stadium

We’ve had 5 rounds and not one tie has been glamorous for us.
And you’ll then probably allow Soccer Express to post on here advertising coaches only to cancel on the day as well

Beat Luton
Beat Southampton
Draw another EFL/bottom EPL side
Win that
We're in the semis

I’ve found the backstory / narrative…

The same guy who stalks Charles Vernam has (allegedly) got grainy footage of Stacey Dooley (Luton) having her paso doble’d by Kai and Tommy Widdrington (Soton). Kevin from Grimsby (Scunthorpe) finds out, switches allegiance to Town and that’s the backstory required for the Mariners to waltz past Luton, do a jive-by on Southampton and some-other-twâtty-dance their way to Wembley.

Lovely stuff.

I’m booking my hotel for Wembley now. Are you.

I saw a theory that a slightly lesser draw could give us the edge in the replay.

Given our run of shite draws it seems somehow fitting we’ve drawn the only side where it’ll mean more to Luton than us

Not a happy camper?

However you slice it, we have had the best cup run for a good while and made a few bob. Look at the positives.

It's pot luck who you get and where, same for everyone.

Everyone said Luton was awful and we'd get beat and not sell out and it was flipping ace.

But it is pretty excrement with it being midweek. If it was a Saturday I'd have got a cheap hotel and made a weekend of it. As it is I can't figure out how I could do it without two days off work and the kids out of school or risking our lives desperately trying to stay awake driving home straight after it.

I think a big draw against Manu or another BIG club would have been a bad omen, take our eyes off the Luton game, think too far ahead and just be disappointed too much if you do lose to Luton. Stay under the radar and just keep mucking in

Chance to scratch another ground off the list for me,  potentially lowest rank team vs struggling top flight could be a tv draw in hope of viewing a giant killing. *
Downer with it being midweek but still do-able

The only thing that makes this a excrement draw is the day it’s played. They’re bottom of the PL and will want to keep that status. Should we get past Luton they will see playing us as a good chance to blood youngsters and play some fringe players and we’d have a chance.

It was - we did t get in until at least 25 mins after KO. I’m sure they didn’t expect so many from Town. About 12k there and only a couple of thousand from Soton

The only things I knew about Southampton were the football club, The Titanic and The Mayflower.

After a very lengthy trawl through Google…the only things I know about Southampton are the football club, The Titanic and The Mayflower…and Craig David was born there.

It’s got a population of over 250k and is in the top 25 largest cities in the UK.

No wonder they have a problem with recruitment. Tommy Widdrington must have thought he’d made it when he rocked up at BP in his M3.

Well I've just booked a fifty note refundable Travelodge for the Tuesday on the off-chance and I'm a glass empty type.
Money back if we don't get past Luton and changeable if it's Monday or Wednesday.

What am I missing here Feb 27 kick off 3pm. Is it a Bank Holiday?

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. It says on the BBC website the game is a 15.00 kick off on the 25th Feb. Who’s got it wrong?

Mixed emotions on this one but not even thinking about it yet as we've got to beat Luton first. If we get knocked out it's irrelevant who we've got in the next round.

I believe the first ever fish fingers where made in Southampton......... so there is a connection

Games were always scheduled to be played midweek.

The fifth round proper will be playing midweek during the week commencing Monday 27 February 2023 with winning clubs in this round collecting £225,000 from the competition prize fund.

I'm sorry but this is a fuc***ng disgrace... The FA cup 5th round on a Tuesday night. Football Association HOLD YOUR HEADS IN TOTAL AND UTTER DISGRACE. YOU HAVE SOLD OUR FOOTBALL SOULS TO YOUR SHITHOUSE PAYMASTERS.

It makes it even harder for us with there being no replays - it's obviously to suit the Premier rich boys re their possible congestion of fixtures

It favours the smaller teams with no replays. As you can win in extra time/penalties.

The way I see it, if we drawn Man Utd or City home or away and lose the replay I would be gutted, but not so gutted at missing on Southampton away, win the replay, we have a chance against Southampton struggling for Premiership survival.

Anyway the dream final is still possible Grimsby v Wrexham LOL.

Next round is played mid week so defo be better to have a northern opponent like Leeds or manu rather than spurs or Brighton.

sodomist!

Couldn't be much worse really in terms of travel but hey how, its still tye 5th round of the cup! Anyway we've still to beat Luton and claim our 120k 4th round prize money yet which is a huge task given how much better away from home they are.

I went to the replay at the old Dell. Shite ground, couldn't see the goal we were stood behind. Coach broke down in Lincoln on the way home. Got home half five in the morning

I was also on that coach and I remember one guy had a very early appointment to take his driving test as we got back into town. Always wondered how he got on. Are you on the fishy, did you pass?

Taking any amount of logic into the situation this must be a mistake. Is it a bank holiday or has a national strike been called to enable fans to attend. It's the rich illegitimates of " The Super Six" who are obviously doing this to ease their congestion. Selfish ,greedy cnts.

Except, Chelsea and Liverpool are no longer in the competition. Leaving only Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal and Town as the remaining 4

I remember stopping in the Pauncefote Arms, East Stoke on the way home and a couple of buses full of town fans also called in and I seem to recall it had to be closed for refurbishment afterwards.

Hollywood Wrexham and Sunderland v Fulham (🥱💤) selected for UK TV coverage of the replays. Everyone involved in selecting TV matches in the FA Cup should be jailed for crimes against football if you ask me.

We're sneaking under the radar. 99 out of 100 people picked at random don't even know Grimsby are still in the FA Cup.

Southampton sign a 22 million and a 18 million pound player tonight.

Things just got harder if we beat Luton.😁

I can see why Wrexham are on TV. Millions of fans in the USA because of the owners. But the other game is an awful choice, although both sides have a large fan base, surely most people who like the fa Cup would rather have seen our game in hope of an upset
