It's an aberration. We were very much in the game at 1-0 before the sending off. After that an efficient, creative Swindon put us to the sword and we weren't tight enough. Very disappointing but it's not how we normally play. It's not the time for histrionics, move on to next week now

It’s not that bad. 5-0 defeat !!! Just the result that a lot of the moaning buggers on here wanted. Bet you was getting worried with our last two 1-0 wins. Yes, you could still have a go at our forward line but with the defence keeping clean sheets, that was a problem. Yes, we are far from where we could be, but some of you on here just moan for moaning sake. Should be on Facebooks, Grimsby Town complain & grumble site.

I don’t believe for a minute the argument that Hurst won’t pay the money and we know he’s put bids in for players to have them knocked back.

That depends what the bid was in the first place . No harm in trying to get a bargain but football is an expencive thing to be in and if you want to compete you have to pay the going rate . You never seem to hear we have gone back with a better bid etc. And end up with a young kid just out of nappies on loan that knows nothing , Or the dregs from the bin outside poundland

Awful performance to add to a season of largely poor performances. Fortunately the bottom 3 are so bad that we're unlikely to be in real trouble, but if we play this badly in the next 5 games then we're bang in trouble. I suspect we'll grind out enough points from sheer endeavor to be safe, but this team is p1ss poor in quality.

Not many teams pay for players at this level and negotiations aren't done publicly like that. Except where clubs are trying to disrupt players at the higher levels. But we clearly have a problem. We've heard for years that our budget is competitive, but the football never is. We must have an extra £500k to what was budgeted for this season and it won't be back next season because we've not even tried to have a go this season.

Obviously this last 3 months has shown us that we are no where near a good side. Why becaues we got cheap or kids and what was left in poundland sales.. and the odd lone that cannot get a propper run of games . Because hurst wont spend what is needed like its his own money he is spending . Most expected that we had learned from last time what happens if you dont kick on ,Never say it wont happen again becaues it will . And as for the season ticket holders that expected better have been hoodwinked in to expecting better expect season tickets to half next season if this carries on
As usual…cobblers. What were our last two league and cup results? What does ‘lone’ mean? What does ‘cheap or kids mean’? What are the relative costs of the ‘cheap’ players you refer to? Please provide figures so we can compare our players to those of other teams. Who has been ‘hoodwinked’? We were promoted and we’ve established ourselves in L2. We have shortcomings and some areas for development, but who doesn’t? What is it exactly that you think you’re automatically entitled to?

We got promoted last season. That's quite competitive.

After sleeping on it last night being hugely embarrassed I’ll put my thoughts now as I was absolutely livid at the time yesterday..
I don’t think we have enough quality and Hurst stayed too loyal to some players that got us promoted and it’s starting to show. I think that we really are missing strength and height in the team we don’t have any quality in the middle just 3 lads who are willing to run around and it’s not enough in this division. Holohan has been ultimately poor for his past 5/6 performances, Smith looks a totally different player…

What was the thinking behind giving a full debut to a young player on loan, with no EFL experience to speak of, at one of the leading teams in the division, who presumably doesn't even know his team mates names, how they play or anything about them?
How can the ultra cautious Hurst go from never using subs before the 70th minute, to throwing a youngster in the deep end like that?
Players come in every window and don't seem to hit the spot, and the same will happen this time. There will be a flurry of signings again now in the next 2 weeks but there seems precious little evidence he even knows what he wants.
What happened to the oft repeated line of they have got to be the right fit, or was that just a smokescreen to gloss over the fact we can't attract quality players that would improve us?
