It seems Barrow will be without most of their home end at their ironically named So Legal stadium, after some clown threw a firework onto the pitch in their Pizza Trophy game against Carlisle last week, exploding close to the Carlisle ‘keeper.

Having started well under Pete Wild, they now find themselves below Town in the table and third bottom in the form chart. They haven’t won in 5 in the league, going all the way back to 17th September. Their last win at home came before that. They are not happy campers up at Holker Street at the minute.

Our record there is pretty good, too. Since we dropped into the Conference in 2010, we’ve played 5, winning 3 and drawing twice. In fact, we’ve won our last 4 against them home and away, with our post 2010 record sitting at P-10 W-6 D-4 L-0.

What does all this mean? Well, not a lot really, other than that the conditions going into the game look favourable to a Town side really beginning to find its groove and with a seriously away record.

Barrow away isn’t the first one you tend to look for on the fixture list, but all things considered I’m looking forward to tomorrow night.

Doubt we'll be seeing Efete as of an hour ago, he was at the hospital with Dave Moore

I Checked the Barrow website, press and twitter and no mention of this. Is it speculation or hope?

It’s in here:

https://www.barrowafc.com/news/2022/october/191022-club-statement-crowd-issues/

“In the interim, a section of Holker Street will be closed until further notice.”

The suggestion on the Barrow forum is that it will be the central section of the Holker End, their home end, which makes sense as this is where the firework was thrown from. Seems this is proactive action from the club, seemingly aimed at sparing themselves the worst of any sanctions to come.

I did it the first time we went after relegation - beautiful sunny day all the way to Penrith, then Baltic when we got to Barrow!

It's not a trip I'll be in a hurry to do again, especially on a Tuesday night!

Kudos to those that go though, hopefully you can bring 3 points home

Ok so it's that section that threw the firework not an actual human then?
Bizzare thing to do. Whoever did it, assuming they've not been caught and banned can always go sit or stand elsewhere and do it again. He/she isn't going to go "Oh excrement. They've closed my usual section, i best not take a firework this time"

It’s bad news I’m afraid.

Efete’s x-ray revealed no damage and he is cleared to play at Barrow tomorrow night.

There will be no gender reveal party.

I would rest Efete with swift games occurring and give a fit Cropper a run out.

Wouldn't want our current top scorer at right back unless totally necessary !

Hope that Richardson gets a start - he looked very lively on Saturday !

Hursty says Michee’s x ray came back and it was “ok”. Not quite sure what that means in the grand scheme of things but I think it’s worth giving Cropper a whirl nonetheless. Especially as they’ll be a physical side being a Pete Wild team, let’s mix it.

Surely it'd be crazy to play Clifton at right wing back considering he's been our biggest threat all season and is playing very well in centre mid.

To be fair, he was like bobajob on Saturday and played about 4 positions…

Shifting to a 3 at the back with Clifton as right wing back isn’t the worst thing in the world…

This is a fixture I’ve waited 24 years for since moving to Cumbria. I went to all the non-league games, but this is the first league meeting in all that time and I can’t wait. I’m heading to the game with my neighbour who was born in Barrow, so I hope we get a result or the short journey home won’t be much fun.

At least the away end now has a roof.

It’ll be my first Town game since the London stadium and I’m really looking forward to seeing Kahn and Green especially after all the positive comments of late.

Playing Clifton as right back or RWB is not such a bad plan if you could pick 3 from Green, Hunt, Morris and Holohan to play in midfield. Play 3 at the back Glennon LWB with 2 from Taylor, Khan, Richardson and you see we have a lot of options available to us.

He did. From a corner (1:20). Macca, Dizzer and Tait not covering themselves in glory there.

After a proper blood and thunder showdown on Saturday, the lower league pilgrimage of Barrow away on a Tuesday isn't ideal at all. They've got a 100% record in the league on Tuesday nights at home this season and we know Wild will have them well drilled. Have read that they've rested a few players so I wouldn't be surprised if they go for it straight out of the blocks. If we can outrun this lot and take three points I think we edge ever closer to be able to claim we're the fittest side in the division. If we can play like we did on Saturday then we'll win this, but I suspect Barrow are gonna be tough. Another battle on the cards.

We have a decent squad now but if anyone wants to know what kind of striker we need to add to it for completeness then just send them this footage of Podge, if we can get someone who can do that at this level we'll be flying.

Also some great glimpses of what a clever footballer Nathan Arnold was.

That was one of Arnold's better games. I characterised him as sort of 1 in 3 type player, he was often anonymous. Hence he played at that level and never quite cut it in the League.

Whether Podge was a flat track bully or not will be forever out there for debate, but what's also clear from that video is how much higher the standard we and our League Two opposition are setting right now. I think both League Two and the National League have improved measurably since the 15/16 season.

Whether Podge was a flat track bully or not will be forever out there for debate, but what's also clear from that video is how much higher the standard we and our League Two opposition are setting right now. I think both League Two and the National League have improved measurably since the 15/16 season.

The top end of the NL was probably as competitive as anything I've seen. Although there is obviously still quite a gap.

I've wasted my life in black and white, a pathetic act for a worthless cause

I’ve paid for the match tonight on Mariners TV and now find out I’m busy until 8.30pm, can anyone tell me if I can watch it at that time from the beginning of the match please? Many thanks.

You can rewind it, yes. Not sure how far though.

Not the experience I was looking forward to. Green looked strong in midfield and I can understand why he has become a favourite of late. Kahn showed glimpses of what he’s capable of, but (like many of his team mates) never got into the game.

The roof on the other hand played a blinder ...... and my neighbour behaved himself (just about).
