Best of both worlds. Good move for the lad. Sound business by Town. Knowing what the lad is like he will still be giving 100% every time he pulls on a Town shirt. Onwards and upwards UTM
I think we will probably see mcatee around 10-15 games this season, he will have his Op in our time and then probably get a mysterious injury in the business end of the season to save himself for the championship

| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

Given all the circumstances (contract, injury, potential), I’m thankful that it’s been sorted and put to bed early enough for us to get our recruitment moving, knowing what we need. He was never staying and it was plain to see that he could operate at a higher level so well done to all for giving him the chance to see out this season and us getting a return on our investment.

We don't, but we need one for him to play off.
But we needed one anyway so JM signing for Luton and then remaining on a season long loan changes nothing.

Unless Luton chucked in a loan striker as well. Sounded like more than a possibility from the JS interview.

McAtee's going from the Vanarama to the Bananarama in one (un)cruel summer... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSSpPkMlb98 Niche
I can’t believe I hadn’t put the name Nathan Jones together with that song, it had completely escaped my mind! An unbelievable find there, that man!

Or...his 20 goals alongside 20 from Dallas, who we were able to sign with the funds from the sale, help us to the play-offs. We get to the final and are 1-0 down to Stevenage mid-way through the second half, Clifton dummies and JMcA slips through to bury the ball inside the far post for the equaliser. In a tense extra time second period Dallas mistimes his header on goal and the ball balloons to JMcA whose lunge knocks the ball over the line. He leaves an absolute GTFC cult hero, but returns 6 years later, and nets 25 goals in a championship winning season. Matt Tees and McAtee, 60 years apart... Oh and BTW, in the interviews after the play-off final Evans loses it completely in an expletive laden fury and is banned from football for life...

Well that deal couldn't have been much better could it, we get to keep him as long as we would have if he'd stayed, but get money fir him plus mcatee gets his move but continues to develop at a level above last years. Literally everyone is a winner.
Absolutely brilliant news under the circumstances and it means we get to keep mcatee for this season and that gives us our best shot at continuing the momentum.

The only way it could get better is if Real Madrid buy him at the end of the season after our promotion for 50 million and we get our 25% add on
