I do feel for Sousa, much as I did for Nathan Arnold in 2016, even if he’s not quite produced the goods as much as Arnold did. Such a fantastic work ethic for a flair player; he absolutely ran himself into the ground in those play-off games.

I get there are issues with end product at times, but I did wonder if that’s something that could have been coached into him over time. He’s 27 though, not 21, so maybe there’s a worry you can’t teach an old dog new tricks.

It’s hard to argue it’s the wrong decision as Hurst has got just about every major decision absolutely spot on in recent times, but I do feel for the lad.

The solace I take though is that a year ago we gave him the chance to prove himself at a higher level. He’s done that now, been a key part of a stunning end to our season and I suspect will be one of the most sought after targets for top end NL sides in the summer, and that competition will probably earn him the best contract of his career.

Really enjoyable to watch at times. I wish him well.

Can only wish Souza well, flarey trickster player with skill to pass multiple opponents but just didn’t materialise with goals and sometimes lacking in the right ending delivery or pass. Reckon Hursty eyeing a winger with total end product for league two.

Season starts in just over 6 weeks so hope Hurst hasn't given those offered contracts too long to make their minds up
