Luton town fan here, just wishing you good luck for this season.
Always look out for your results wishing the mariners success as I have a soft spot for them.
You should use us as a template of what can be done on a reasonable budget. (No big spending). We paid a million for the keeper apart from that few hundred thousands for several players+ freebies. But we sold James Justin to Leicester for decent money and tv money. Otherwise we are a fan run club who have best interests for the club.
Hope you go up! All the best đ

Cheers mate. I spent 18 months in Stavanger in the late 90âs. Fantastic place and people. Always amazed at how much the locals knew about lower tier English football, instead of just Man U, Liverpool etc.
Went to Oslo a couple of times. Nice but fking expensive!!

| The wife was going away for a girly weekend. I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football' 'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked She said 'Well you already know how to play football'  |

Norway is expensive full stop. Went there on a cruise of the Fjords a couple of years back (we stopped off in Stavanger) and I remember paying ÂŁ13 for a pint! In fact it was just less than a pint. I would never have bought it but my brother who was with me insisted that he was going to buy it for me. Thanks to Oslohatter for the good luck message though.

Always a good game down here when we played Luton. Scott Rendell and Stuart Fleetwood in the 2012-13 season along with Andre Gray? I was always jealous that we never signed Stuart Fleetwood - had a decent career. I think during your last year was it Pelly Ruddock's breakout season? He's stayed with you to the Championship so quite a journey for him

Cheers mate. I have a friend who supports Luton so I always want them to do well. Fantastic to see them in the championship and I hope they do well. Got lots in common with them I think - similar sized club and support, much maligned townâŠ.
Luton are a good model for how to progress without bankrupting yourself.

Your welcome. We are all similar clubs.. with what people would consider grim towns.. although I prefer Grimsby/cleethorpes..
I hope to get back for again up there soon. I used to go and see the Mariners when they were in the SE. Iâm sure I was a bad curse thoughđ loosing at Oxford 3-2 midweek.
Southend 1-0 midweek.. Charlton lose (canât remember score), home defeat to wolves on a Friday
Who is the favourites for the conference this year? Is there any money bag teams?

I have a mate who lives in Stavanger and once he converterd into English pounds how much items are in the shops to buy, literally all of the items he listed were atleast double the price we pay here, some of them was even 6x the price we pay here!

Stockport and Wrexham are the 2 teams who have been splashing the cash, so it's no surprise they're the 2 favourites to win the title. As for us, I'd take a 7th place finish now if it was offered.

If you don't aim for the stars, you will always live a life of mediocrity. I would like us to finish as champions, whether we do or not is a different matter.

You didnât go anywhere near Bury Park when I stayed there. It seemed a very territorial place if you know what I mean. Had some good times in Luton though and met some cracking people, lots of Irish down there. Some lovely surroundings as well with Hitchin, Harpenden and St Albans. Whenever I think of the football team though I just remember that 7-1 win at home in the FA cup.

I have friends who are Luton Town fans, 8 always came up for the home game, football then a night out in Cleethorpes. My best mate Cleethorpes born and breed, located in Mauden for the best part of 25 years now, had many a night out in the surrounding areas. Worse experience at Kenilworth Road was when we lost 0-6 back in the eighties.

The one when their 9ft tall keeper was lobbed in the box for one of the goals.
By Jamie Forrester - the shortest player on the pitch. I remember it well. As our seventh goal crashed in an old boy in the Main Stand sat near me exclaimed: "Pinch me! Is this really happening?"

Speaking of expensive (and cold) places I went to Reykjavik a few years ago.
We were at a restaurant and they had Quality Street chocolates they were handing out for free. It turned out it had become a tradition because the trawlermen âfrom Grimsbyâ brought them across. When I told them my dad was one of them we ended up with loads of extra food and drinks.

Iceland is amazing, itâs like being on another planet. Rekjavik is nice but if you go try and get to the Golden Circle, there are some amazing waterfalls, volcanos and geezers within an hours drive. The Blue Lagoon is worth the trip by itself.

I'm a bit restricted as I'm not allowed to fly anywhere over 2 hours so it'll have to be a cruise. They do cruises to Iceland so it'll need to be that for me.

Cheers Oslohatter. If youâre ever in Larvik on a Saturday night youâll probably bump into my mate whoâs a Grimsby fan (apparently not many people do go out as itâs so expensive).

This is the one I'm looking at. Got a cruise coming up in April 2022 to Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar but this one isn't until March 2023 so plenty of time to save up for it. https://www.iglucruise.com/bolette/27th-march-2023_c285984PS. Apologies for taking this thread off topic. I'll leave it at that now.

Supported Luton as a teenager when I lived and worked down there, I knew and worked in Bury Park in the late 50s at Snowdon's TV before it became a ghetto, it was 500 yards from the ground so handy for the match, worked half day Saturday in those days. Still look out for Luton's results
