Only took him 6 years!...and that happened by luck with Braintree gifting us a penalty!...

Working on that basis you could argue that if John-Paul Pittman doesn't sky a penalty and the Bristol Rovers keeper actually gets sent off then we would have done it a year sooner?

Really don’t get that. He wasn’t our manager for all 6 years for a start. The thing that really confuses me is why you would dislike the bloke so much that you desperately looked for reasons why he doesn’t deserve credit for us going up and the best you can do is us getting a blatant penalty in a match.

Cupping his ears did it for me!...
The football was awful, he's negative, plays not to lose and does not play to win.

I'm saying a better manager would have got us out of that league quicker,...

And has never changed his style in ten years of managment, any manager he comes up against know exactly how to beat his teams.

Maybe, but we were always behind a good few teams when it come to budget.

As for the cupping of the ear. The week before, somebody put a massive banner on the Telegraph flyover saying Hurst out for the team to see when it headed out to Braintree. How did you expect him to react?

Well, none of the managers in the past four matches have beaten ‘his’ team

I don't know why some fans were so sensitive to a little ear cupping. It meant something to him in the face of some IMO unjust criticism and certainly behaviour on occasion from some. To me that wasn't 'intercourse you lot' but rather 'look what actually we can do and have done, we are in this together'.

Agree about the cupping of his ear.

We did score a lot of goals though Podge alone got 30+ when we went up and Hearn scored about the same before that.

Several big wins scoring 5-6 even seven in one game .

Hard to believe now .

We may see our luck change when John Fenty and the others leave the club, the new board may bring a breath of fresh air into the club, they may (I’m hoping they do) make the necessary changes what we’ve all been crying out for, we need massive changes that’s for sure.

Grimsby and proud!
