I just feel our two games in hand will be of no use to us at all as we are so far behind the other teams at the moment.

Come on Town prove me wrong.

We was in trouble the moment we let too many players just walk away . compounded by not getting enough league 2 good standard players in. and going for too many young unproved players that where not ready to step up and play. Add to that going back in too training  two weeks too late and trying to play catch up resulting in injurys to key players. member ups all the way round.. The only saving factor as i see it is that the season will not run all the way and will be stoped.. but we will still need to get points on the board . all i can see is a strugle and a bigger one to stay up.. Again prob all due to penny pinching ,

Over to Holloway to sort this shower of sh!te out...never mind were only X amount of games in, we've looked toothless in the games we played do far, our only hope is Hanson has recovered and we can start netting some goals, otherwise we really are truly f@cked!!

Honestly yes...we've something like 6 strikers on the books now but only 1 proven goal scorer, Green isn't going to get you double figures and the others are from non league and below. Unfortunately that's where we are at the moment, it's not going to change and we can only rely on Holloway coming up with a style of play that gets us out the mire. Stark reality and not one we want to a accept or see but we could be in big bother of this season is seen out to the end.

We will be there or there abouts all season.
Imo this will be down to the bloke at the top of the clubs mishandling of the current situation and the Managers spending to much time moaning and an unwillingness to get on with his job.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Not often are Town bottom but better now than at the end of the season.
I’m confident that our non league striker signings will come up to speed - maybe not immediately - and Covid 19 isnt making it any easier - but Town will get over this and other clubs will unfortunately fall foul of the virus to level the playing field - if they are honest with reporting positive Covid test results / monitoring symptoms in playing and admin staff

Personally I get that we’ve only played 2 games but no points and no goals would suggest that even in this early stage we’re in deep sh1t, when did a team win all its games in hand, in fact when did a team win the majority of them?

in all honesty i cant readily remember the last time we started a season very well, never seem to get off to a really good start and set a positive tone for the rest of the season, even in the non league we were never front runners. Bad starts are the norm for us.

We started well in 05/06 and slipped away at the wrong time. More recently 16/17 under Hurst was an OK start (by our low standards).

01-02 was a good start and look how that ended up. Needed a result against Keegan’s Fulham on the last day.

Very well hence the cries on this site for Fenty to give Jolley a 3 year contract before he was headhunted by clubs at a higher level. Perfect example of how quickly results and opinions can change.

Going back to our first game v Morecambe there were some very positive passages of play, thus with a fully fit Rose, Scannell, Wright, Hendrie and Hanson we should be fine. Scoring goals looks to be a problem and as hard as Green tries he is not the answer to finding a goal scorer. At the back Ithink we will be sound but to score goals we need more creativity in midfield which previously our loan signings of Embleton, Robson and Benson have all played significant parts in so let’s hope the new lad from Bristol can fill that void and Williams and Rose can find some form.

Think it will be November before we can really judge the team as a playing unit and let’s hope in the meantime we can grind out a few results.

Imagine having a pecker so small to ignore the issues at ones own club to come here and mock us...

In all seriousness, I said it nearly a month ago, justifying our poor start and current situation is fine but we could be well adrift before we’ve got going.

I thought Ollie was the latest messiah a little like mr jolley??

Your season will be over before it's started boys

We have been hit and miss here but Cox knows what he's doing and a good shake up is needed. Playoffs is our minimum this season.

I see the Gimps have got off to a flyer. Maybe letting the Cowley's go was a great move by their board but I'm sure we will be back at Lincolnshire's Number biggest Number one club and with gates of 9 - 10k just like the gimps within three years. You heard it here first

Lots of folk on here thought the same (and some said Bogle would play for England and that we'd get a new ground on the docks)

But if you haven't got dreams however crazy what have you got?

Biggest number one club in Lincolnshire? Intercourse me, you never have and ever will be as big a club as us or the cods. As for 9-10k, you wouldn’t even get that playing in the Championship with away sides bringing a couple of thousand every home game.

Scunny only used to get 4-5k in the championship and when you go around their town all you see is Liverpool tops.
They just don’t have the fan base to get 10k & lack any local interest.
I saw that you had raised a good amount again but those in charge again cocked things up.
All that good work undone by bad club PR.
Everytime we had a fundraiser is was used to get players in.
People can see what they have contributed to.
Hats off to you everytime you all pull in the right direction and raise some good funds for your club.

We are all in uncertain time’s and no club is safe at the moment we can only hope the EFL get a rescue package sorted otherwise soon there will be no clubs left.

These are worrying times for a number of reasons but it's a bit early to panic. The squad was late coming together and this virus issue won't help
Lets not forget it took Liam Hearn 8-10 games to bag his first goal so one of these new boys could step up to the plate, plus we have a manager who we know can sort it out.
The major concern is that the same person is in charge and his track record speaks for itself. It's quite possible that Olly might get demoralised with the penny pinching and jump ship before it's turned round. Hoping for a quick turn round but not overly confident

I’ve thought about this a lot and the current situation has me worried.

Bottom of the league, a busy treatment table and a team currently made up of youngsters, loanees, non league step ups and what quality we do have is historically injury prone. The players from last year are earning 25% less which is better than no pay but I’m not sure how motivated I’d be if it was me.

The manager clearly has background and talks well but he’s already started to get some excuses in early and his phone isn’t as busy with players wanting to play for him as he’d have liked or we believed. We’ve also lost a coach who it appears a lot of the players respected.

Deadline day is approaching but I’d be amazed if we recruited anyone else with the current uncertainty. Any free agents we bring in over time will take a while to get going.

On the pitch..... well if Tilley’s shot at the of first game had been 6 inches to the right we’d have got a draw and certainly in the last game for the first half at least the Salford keeper was busier than Macca and but this is all “if’s and ands”. In reality we’ve looked well under cooked.

Off the pitch we’ve just lost two weeks to COVID and the lack of clarity about why, how, when etc.. is as much of a concern as a possible EFL sanction.

When we get playing again it’s 2 away trips Bolton and Orient .... 2 games where we need to avoid defeat as a minimum.

On the face of it clearly we’ve only played 2 games (but when do teams win all their games in hand) so it’s early days but things need to happen now or Ian Holloway could have something on his relatively impressive CV that no Manager would ever want.

We are all in uncertain time’s and no club is safe at the moment we can only hope the EFL get a rescue package sorted otherwise soon there will be no clubs left.

I’d suspect we’ve used it on players but the quality & level of talent we’ve brought in is let’s say “uncertain” at this stage, let’s hope it gels soon.

Very uncertain times and times when I’m sure every EFL club has been impacted to a degree.

I’d like to believe that we’ll ride this out but  like a few others the lack of match day income could ultimately cost us our league status.

Past twenty years in the Football League, we get a nosebleed if we reach the heady heights of 14th in League Two. Not often bottom maybe, but always bottom half, never top. We've been transformed into perennial bottom feeders.. and it's tiresome and it fooking hurts..

John Fenty future GTFC epitaph.. "Not Often Bottom" about sums it up..

We’ve played 2 games and have 0 points, if we were not bottom with that start then there would be something seriously wrong . Calm down

Just scares me the way we have lost, especially second-half against Salford.

In my opinion we have gone backwards this summer and constantly doings things on the cheap finally catches up with you.

Bolton is massive for you.

I've just looked at the league table and you haven't scored a goal as yet!! 😳😳

What the heck is happening to you??

Can't wait until we get to play you. Just a pity we can't come and take over Cleethorpes again

League survival was the aim this season and it’s no surprise to see us bottom. Heard many fans saying this was our season out of blind loyalty, but anyone focusing on what Ollie had to say pre-season would of realised we wasn’t  in the best of shape.

But why weren’t we in better shape than we were?

Ollie says we are the best run club he’s been at, we had money in the bank, we have according to Ollie the best fitness coach around and when our players returned he had them in great shape and needed match fitness. However, for some reason yet to be explained we appear to be the only club in this area unable to organise a competitive pre-season friendly. The grounds an was furloughed so the pitch suffered and this after Ollie complained about the quality of the pitch last season and remarked that he would be asking Squeaky to spend some money on it.

Why has every other side looked so much fitter that town in the games we have played as all clubs got the same notice period for preparing for the new season? Given these factors the Ollie rhetoric does not appear either consistent or accurate IMO.

That said I do still think we have a bloody good manager and once the full first choice team is on the pitch a decent side that should more than hold its own but I still struggle to understand how we started in such a chaotic mess and signed so many non-league strikers that to date the majority of whom can’t even get on the subs bench.

Come on guys,  hold your nerve.  I believe that once our injuries heal, we get fit, and can get a fully fit team of our best players out we will be a challenge for anybody.

Maybe so, and if it was a blip I might agree with you.

However, we are not just "bottom of the league" are we? We are bottom of the entire football league after being in the bottom division or non league for many years. If any non fishy fans out there think that is remotely acceptable they are living in la la land. I guess that is what the club bank on - blind loyalty. I have been very loyal to the club in terms of going for 60 odd years, but you have to live in the real world as well, and the facts speak for themselves.

Managers come and go, put the people in charge just go on their merry way not having a clue how to turn our fortunes around.

Holloway is our best chance, probably on force of personality alone as he is obviously not going to get any help from our inept board.

We are all hoping that is so, but we have heard similar things so many times before and it very rarely comes true.

All doom and gloom, and I'm not expecting us to look world beaters this weekend after 2 weeks in isolation, but, I'd say there are positives:

Luke Hendrie - when he's back, he's probably as good a full back as you can get in League 2.
Hanson - I've no idea how far off he is from getting back, and he's clearly injury-prone due to his age, but he's an excellent target man for this level.  We could really do with him.
Danny Rose - he's gonna be crucial.  Don't think he played against Salford, but we need him back.
Waterfall & Pollock - a good pairing, will both hit form.

There are more positives too, but I think these guys are all good enough for teams capable of a playoff push, so I'm really hoping they can drag the rest of the squad into that sort of level and get us clear of that bottom two.

I do think we have some players who are too good to go down to the conference, and some who might not be.  It's time for the leaders in our squad, and I believe we have a few, to step it up.

A win on saturday would transform everyone's opinion of us, even our own.

Genuine question. How instrumental is Colclough to your current set up and how much will you miss him when he’s on holiday at Her Majesty’s pleasure?

The Germans came closer to taking Cleethorpes, than Scunthorpe ever have.
You're having a laugh, your end last season was the quietest I have heard The Osmond Stand.
