Well considering nobody knows anything about Tuesdays game or who was involved, or even if it actually took place, I wonder how many trialists Ollie has asked back for a potential second viewing?

If it did take place, and we only have one report of a tweet saying the match was being filmed, then GTFC have done really well to keep everything quiet, which I can totally understand why.

I wonder if he'll try to get someone like Harry Davis or Jake Hessenthaler back?  And I have no idea if they're fixed up or not, so go gentle on me if you know otherwise!

I heard months ago that he would have possibly liked to have re-signed a few of the departees once the new season details were known, including Akheem Rose, but I'd assume with the new signings all being strikers that's not on his agenda now.

Will Messi be playing again. I know he played on Tuesday but I think Ollie wanted a 2nd look as he wasn't sure if he'd be up to the rigours of a League 2 season.

I assume things are moving along under wraps & Ollie is being discreet at this stage.
It's still weird that it's all gone so quiet just a week before our first competitive game.
Ah well strange times - so be it.

Not a bad 3 for 2 offer really

Good signing for them.  He wanted to go back to the North West, so not a big surprise there.

I'm sure there was a Telewag article saying that we won't be re-signing any of the released players.

Also, haven't we supposed to have signed Marcus Day? Seen nothing official though.

Ollie's phone has probably stopped melting since he went public about only offering contracts with a Covid clause in them !!!

I doubt it as this season there are less seats available than supporters wanting season tickets if the rumours are correct

This was my thinking to. Maybe the club have asked the media not to publish anything to avoid bringing any  attention to the trialists from other clubs?  No mention of tuesdays game in the press, on social media or radio humberside, so maybe they have obliged?

Hope the weather is better tomorrow than it is today, no chance a game could go ahead in these conditions.

Tuesday's BCD game could have been played anywhere, not just Cheapside or BP, even outside Grimsby and Cleethorpes.

Mohsni didn't have the lockdown training regime the other players had
So has pushed it too much in training and got a sciatica-type problem

Ollie has said he will be concentrating hugely on the league season - so I think he will use a lot of young lads/squad players for early cup games
Not a bad idea really - little money to be earned through gate receipts etc
And we should still be able to put out a strongish first XI
Plus it allows the three non league strikers to get used to pace of L2 footy

Sadly, we never seem to be able to get off to a flyer but there is a bigger picture here

And he isn't going to get bodies in just for the sake of it

There will be some very good players out there in next 2/3 weeks not signed up anywhere

Short term (when is football anything else?) not looking great but mid/long term will look a lot brighter IMO

And I would think cardwell was on the bulk of that by far. Definitely worth swapping cardwell (proven not good enough) for a couple of non league strikers (eityer of which or both may be good enough).

Akheem was a may or may not be good enough type himself really so no change there.

Let's be honest we look woefully unprepared for the season and we need several signings next week, and even then we are playing catch up, I know the window is open until October but we don't want to be leaving signing players that late!

Signing proven players on a contract and not loan could be an issue as we are not shopping at the poundshop, we are shopping at the food bank.

oh said this and didnt get a positive response, the cup competitions although give us some funds, its a fine line between surviving the season and burning out your players, the cups in my eyes shouldn't be taken seriously because of the unknowns.  I wouldn't give a monkeys if we lost to "Horse & Groom" in round 1 if it meant we focus on the league and survival.

Watched for 20 mins today, no idea who he is but number 3 playing in the away strip looked a tidy player, was playing right mid/wing.
William's looked a class above for that short spell, nobody else really stood out and most looked well short of match fitness, as youd expect...
