Its happening!!! The takeover!!!

Not sure why people are falling out over this.He's not some dodgy Asian/Russian businessman, he's not some scally with a string of debt and business closures behind him, he's not even a shady hedge-funder from S Africa with no connections to the club (but this hasn't done Lincoln any harm yet).

His background shows he likes to invest and improve things. He's part of the regeneration of Gy to make things better, more investable, to give people a chance to flourish. He's not planning a glitzy Las Vegas bunch of casinos, nor planning on a giant gold statue of himelf nor any typical British white elephant vanity projects, he's looking to bring Grimsby into the modern era and bring success and prosperity with it.
With that approach and mindset I welcome him to the task of doing said things to my beloved football club.

30k a week isnt a massive wage budget nowadays. Take your average squad of 22 and it works out at an average wage of £1364 per week. Obviously some players on more, some less but I believe I read somewhere that last season our top earners were John Welsh and Ben Pringle on around £1500 a week.

That wasn't the total wage budget, that was the loss he was covering.

Since this news broke out we went from favourites for relegation to third favourites so something must be happening

The one sentiment I'd like to echo is that of " thanks for doing your best in keeping the club afloat" to Me Fenty...
Yes, through his tenure he's devided opinions, caused contraversy, said the wrong things at the wrong times but he tried his best and unfortunately his best just wasn't good enough for the long term future of the club...
So, if this deal is struck, here's to a bright future with the club becoming the centre of a reunited community with fresh ideas, new infrastructure and a will to succeed...

I don't think he's loaded ,I suspect he may not even be as cash rich as fent y but there are consistent stories that there is at least one other person involved.I wondered if that might his wife but others with better sources than me say that the other person or persons are the ones with the serious money. The most likely suspect is ross who Shutes has a close relationship with and have known each other for years. However it's been suggested that there may be other people,presumably influential, who will also be getting involved.
There is also a very interesting little story going around that the land at freemo will be used for other purposes and there are moves to get our new stadium on the docks.fish dock no.3 has been mentioned. This comes on the back of stories a couple of months ago that ABP had suddenly had a volte face in their previous attitude and were keen to come on board with the regeneration plan.
As shutes and Ross don't seem to be footie people and are more interested in the regeneration side ,personally I'd be surprised if they were going to throw stupid money at the playing budget. It may well be, given the 2 players already signed, plus the 3 good names that we are after, that Holley is given a decent budget.I suspect their main focus will be on the new ground and dragging the club into the 21st century. I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to find that one of their first moves is to appoint a chief executive.
I have to say I'm enormously excited and at last ,after so many years, fent y has finally come good with his hairs on the back of our necks promise!

I’d like to know what’s in it for Shutes ?
Running a football clubs a thankless task and even the regeneration stuff can’t be done just out of an act of kindness .
There must be something in it to make it worth while
