Well that was a nervy last 10!! First half was exceptional. They couldn't handle Dembele at all. Some of his footwork is simply outrageous. On one occasion he took a high ball down flicked ot up and round the defender. Worth the cost of the day on his own. It was far from a one man show. Summerfield was magnificent. Just about everything we did involved him. Woolford's ball to Siriki for the first goal was perfect. Both centre backs were immense against Cheltenhams high ball game with the only blot being P*lls free header for their goal. Second half it was clear Dembele was struggling a bit well before he came off. I don't know if Son of madeley was at the game but Town dealt pretty comfortably with anything the home team slung in until that last 10. Their second goal was decent and our old giving free kicks away in dangerous areas resurfaced but somehow (woth a bit of help from their crap finishing) we held on. The much maligned Dixon made some crucial first half tackles and blocks. Summerfield my MOM just edging Dembele but what a talent he is!

We played well today, we played quick attacking football and pressed high and shock and behold we got an entertaining win. Bar some odd subs at the end and a short period near the start of the 2nd half where we sat back and let them play you're right Barralad they didn't really threaten. Couldn't do much with their 2nd droped perfectly for him to smash it in and poor marking for their first. Demebele once again playing out of his skin and Summerfield once again looking good. But odd performances every now and then don't change my mind. Slade is not the man to take us forward unitll we start performing like this consistantly and I stand by what I have been saying. Always want to see Town win. Slade Out. Up The Mariners.

Its dull boring football with an occasional win I don't see how anyone could carry on watching it. The fact we are 3 points off the playoffs has nothing to do with it I'm just bored of the constant excrement football I am offered I want football like today. I can understand an occasional boring excrement match but, 4 good games out of 14. I had forgotten about the game today thats how invested I am at the moment because of the way we are playing. A rejuvenated Summerfield.....always liked him. Decent passer.....has an engine and likes to shoot from range....im happy for him. The shirt is his to lose.

I will Rome wasn't built in a day and we are stable and in touch with he playoffs. Better than playing Solihull, Dover , Braintree and Lincoln ( my mistake I forgot), great result look at our record against the cloggers from Cheltenham UTM

Got to admit I've been a bit preoccupied this evening and completely forgot we were playing. Nice to check in and see we've nicked another good away win.
We just need to get the home form up to par now as we're winning more points away from home and scoring a lot more goals away from BP as well.
Good to see Dembele taking his chances and another goal for Collins as well. The defenders are chipping in quite well with goals this season. Could do with some from the central midfielders and strikers now.

Dembele certainly looked like he was trying to flick that ball in for his second so well done to him. A bit of luck for the first, but you need that sometimes.

Non biased view of the game..
Until our goal we was brilliant, knocking it around moving forward and defending brilliantly. Once we scored they took control and eventually equalised. After that it was scrappy but we was clever with the ball and got ourselves a couple of goals. Second half was dire from both sides. Both sides hitting long, they atleast had 2 or 3 men to aim for, we had nothing upfront. Their was one or two little moments we did play it along the floor and looked good on the counter. Positives : Dembele is unreal. And summerfield was fantastic. Negative: Matt. Counter attack and he's trotting forward as if he'd just run a marathon (he had just come on).
Overall a solid defensive display with some good attacking flair first half. Looking forward to the highlights to see the pass and goal for our 3rd.

Johnson moaning about time wasting. I've heard it all now, and then he admits that they would do it if they were in the lead. Idiot! We are now starting to resemble the team Slade had first time around, in that we are generally better away from home. Was the same under Hurst for a long time. I think it's maybe that the players at this level don't have the skill to break down teams that just come and sit, but prosper when they have a bit more space away from home.

A solid performance which could have been more comfortable had we kept some pace on the pitch later in the game. Encouragingly, we were always looking to play football at every opportunity first half, and you could see an understanding developing between the players. Summerfield in particular was once again impressive, covering so much ground and having a positive attacking influence. Also, a shout out for Vernon who runs himself into the ground, and put himself about well. Let's try to play like we did first half all the time!

Happy with that despite missing the first half hour due to roadworks. And still managed to see us score 2 goals. Great to beat those cheating girl privates finally. Only real weak link for me was Matt who seems to have deep sea divers boots on.

Really good first half performance. When we keep the ball on the deck we look like a match for most teams in this league. We defended brilliantly throughout, the only blip leaving Pell unmarked for the equaliser. Summerfield had a great game as did Vernon with some great hold up play, Demdele was superb and MOM for me. Second half we were put under pressure, bombarded with long balls but thought we coped reasonably well but thought we needed to bring on DJ instead of Matt as we needed an outlet. A great 3 points. Is it possible??

Great for Dembele but even better that Summerfield is producing some outstanding performances and getting the ball more to do this. Slade mybe should have put D.J. on to keep the momentum going but at 3-1 he probably thought got to protect this.
Time to get off Summerfields back and give the man some encouragement.

I think Woolford deserves a mention for his Corners alone.
We are so use to seeing the keeper just catch it, or it hit the first man.
But 9 times out of 10, he gets it right in the mix where the keeper cant come for it

We have definitely improved on corners this season under Bignot all we had was a near post flick which if scouted before a game can be easily dealt with and under Hurst we appeared to just get it in the box for opposing keepers to claim. This term the delivery and movement from the taller players is much better.

Nothing more to add to what has been said really... not been following the team as closely in the last 6-8 months so I'm really out of the loop on our players, etc. That said, Dembele was a real standout - fantastic player!
But it was a pretty enjoyable game last night. I thought town looked good, certainly in the first half. We started extremely brightly and really kept pressure on them.
I guess my only disappointment was how deeply we were defending towards the end.. we were playing so deep that in the last 10 minutes or so, their players could pick up the ball in their half completely unchallenged and just start lobbing it in towards the box as it seemed like all our players were hanging around in the box just WAITING for their players to flood in. It just meant we were backs to the wall the whole time, making for a very nervy last few minutes.
Overall I think the scoreline was a fair reflection of the game. And all that matters though really is the three points and a good result for the traveling fans.

Any cross which the opposition defence don't clear and which your player scores from when not under challenge is surely, by definition, a good one?
Admittedly, we got a bit of luck with the ball bouncing back to Dembele, but it's about time we had one drop for us in the box!

Dixon very close to man of the match had his best game in a town shirt for me they all played very well for me as a team and well worth my of the win getting better steadily and as I keep saying it's a marathon not a sprint Lon way to go yet but the biggest problem we face is keeping our little gem (dembele) he's a cut above

Dembele seems to be gaining more and more confidence with each game. Once he scored one the floodgates have opened now and he's going for it after being close a couple of times before finally scoring. I remember last season watching Portsmouth and they had a player with a similar build and style who was running everything for them and thought "If we could get a player like that it'd be great" and now we have our own nippy midfielder with a trick or two up his sleeve.
Collins goal is funny to watch, it's probably the slowest shot on goal he's ever made but it just seems to have the right placement in the corner so the keeper can't get it at full stretch.

I think Collins is celebrating long before it actually trickles into the net which is quite funny to see.

UTM Slade Out.
I think you are being a tad unfair. I am definitely not a Slade fan but we played some really good stuff on Tuesday. Some of the interlinking play between midfielders and forwards on the wings was excellent. Further to that I think we have played some good football in a lot of games this season. In the original Derby match we started well and we are certainly play better football than under his previous tenure.
