We were willing to allow them to put balls in the box and dealt with them well. When we got the ball in their half we looked dangerous too. I think we may need someone who's willing to sit in front of the back 4, as at times rose and berret were sliced through.

Yep, we've just won 3-1 at a promotion favourite and we're dropping the centre midfield who are clearly the scapegoats. Welcome to The Fishy

I wasn't scapegoating though was i, I was offering an observation. I'm sincerely sorry if it didn't agree with your view.

Just home, what a great away performance. I believe that Chesterfield was the better footballing team no doubt but we had more grit, determination and the right attitude. What do you say to your players at half-time when your 2-0 up against a team who are heavily tipped for promotion? Second half we soaked up the pressure excellently and was a great finish by Denniss to make it 2-1 but we
came straight back. Defenders looked solid all game, won a gritty away game which may prove absolutely vital come end of the season. Going home so happy UTFM

3 1 away win vs a team tipped for promotion. Don't care how we did it, we have 3 points. Well done the faithful who went today. UTM

A lot of the Chesterfield shots were long range efforts, with only a couple, or at most a handful of clear cut opportunities. I thought their solemn goal was a box sitter, where Dennis pivoted well and scored. The play leading up to his goal was just scrappy penalty area stuff.

I really enjoyed watching the game live here in the U.S. I thought Town went with a game plan and it played out perfectly. The first half was pretty even, except that we got the 2 goals. We were under the cosh second half but they were restricted to very few clear cut chances thanks to lots of determined defending. I thought the decision to take out the wide forward players and tighten the midfield worked well to help see the game out. Hopefully one more striking option will be joining soon, and we should have a solid squad for the division. Three goals away from home on the opening day without a number 9 is definitely very encouraging. Everyone contributed to the win.
