Hearing rumours that Paul Dixon is poised to sign for us.

We must have come to some agreement with his over-demanding agent then if that's the case.

Would be a decent signing, but as I say, only rumours at the minute.

With under 2 weeks to go until the season, I imagine we'd have had no option but to raise our offer. Ultimately we need a left back, and one who can play 90 mins. With him having trained with us, he should hopefully be in good shape.

Or he lowered his demands for the same reason- close to the season and no other deal forthcoming?

Obviously it's a few years back - but has some international experience for Scotland so got a decent pedigree. Was at Huddersfield not too long ago, too.

"Dixon was selected in the full Scotland squad for a friendly against the Czech Republic in March 2010, along with United teammates Andy Webster and Garry Kenneth. Dixon made his full Scotland debut on 8 September 2012, in a goalless draw with Serbia in Scotland's opening World Cup qualifier of Group A at Hampden Park, playing the full 90 minutes and earning man of the match for his solid performance in defence"

What's the catch? Seems to me that he would be an excellent signing with plenty of pedigree at only 30 would probably have plenty of fuel left in the tank.

Would be a good signing. Solid if not spectacular. Sign Karleigh Osborne as well plus a back up left back and the defence is set.

Would be the first ex sponsor to play for the club since Neil Woods signed Dave Ciba-Geigy in 2010.

Greg Young?

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

The Grimsby 'S' is a strange phenomenon. I love it. I have no idea whether someone's doing it deliberately or not, so I never want to correct them. Such a weird thing to manifest itself in such a localised way.

Wasn't Bignott thinking of making a bid for Andy Europesfoodtown at one stage ?

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

He was set to be our 22nd central midfielder.

But it helps explain this link between players & sponsorship. I assume from heightest perspective that Richard Smith sponsored the Upper Smith's and the more diminutive Dave Smith the Lower?

I'll just reference one Alan Neilson.

Can't believe no one has mentioned Finn Duss yet?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.
Oh my friend we're older but no wiser,
For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.

It's was sad when the deal for gutamalen playmaker Ti Oxide fell through. But, it was great for stalwart Norris Therubberman to get a testimonial in 1987

Didn't we also have the danish centre back Carl Sberg for a season or two before the Smith brothers forced him out?
