Dear John,

I going to write quite a detailed summary of tonight's game but they say a picture is worth a thousand words so here is your picture

That's right John, in case you missed the match watching the drone over the main stand, tonight's game was shitter than excrement, a whole new level of brown dank goop. It's been the same excrement for weeks if not months. I was wondering if Hurst is left handed as all he wanted to us to do is lump it up to left for Monkhouse to nod it to their players.

You maybe could come to some agreement with the allotment holders up at peaks parkway and offer them the 20 foot strip of grass that Hurst avoids in front of the Findus or get a few goats to save the groundsman from burning out, you never know, we might find a goat or two that can turn in more of a performance than Hoban and Monkhouse.

No width, no imagination, no plan b, no drive and determination, and a manager who is sucking the life out of this club.

It's about time you got to grips with this club or hand it over to someone who has the spirit and drive to succeed.

It may only be half time in the fixture but tonight it seemed either the players didn't want it or Hurst doesn't have a clue.

Supporting the Mighty Mariners for over 30 years, home town club is were the heart and soul is and it's great to be a part of it.

The only question is should we sack PH in the morning or after our fate is settled.

He does not have the ability to take us further.

I am starting to think that Fenty and co. are actually happy to be in this league and maybe aren't as desperate as we fans are to get back in the football league. We win a majority of games no matter how excrement we are and we are always at the right end of the table which keeps attendances at a pretty nice average thus keeping the club ticking over and we also get a fair bit of TV exposure in this league with being a bigger fish. IMO Fenty has found his perfect manager in Hurst as he is a nearly man. My worry is  he will only sack him is if attendances start to drastically fall and this would mean we will be starting next season with Hurst in charge

Doubt it, there comes a time in all clubs where the manager,  however hard he works falls short of the expectations of the fans and the board, to continue with this state of play for any length of time is no good for anybody and I feel that if we fail to win this play off on Sunday there has to be some tough decisions to be made.

Hi John. (GYFR)

I've been reading your posts on this forum, a fans forum with interest over the weeks. Taken on board all of your points regarding getting behind the team, show your support etc etc. I did just that tonight, I paid for a ticket and sat amongst the other 4,500 or so Town fans, who did their bit and got behind the team. This is the first time I have done this (as a paying customer) since we lost to Macclesfield with a sorry whimper back in September or whenever it was. I walked out of that game annoyed knowing that it would be the same old excrement all over again.

Do the right thing please and get rid of Hurst. I won't be going back if he's in charge next season. Which, I'm afraid to say will be non league.

If any players or managers are reading this and I've touched a nerve. I don't care. Prove me wrong.

You fill up my senses,
Like a barrel of Tetley's,
Like a packet of Woodbine,
Like a good pinch of snuff,
Like a night out in Cleethorpes,
Like a greasy chip butty,
O, Super Black and Whites,
Come fill me again
Na na naa naa naa naaaa TOWN!!
Na na naa naa na na naaaa
Na na naa naa na naaa naaa
Na na naa naa naa naaaaaaa!!!!!

I'd like to see the telegraph kept away from the team. I'm sick of our players being made to feel celebrity/superstar like by having interviews what seems every week. Sick of these 'rallying calls' for the fans to get behind the team, time and time again, only to have a half-arsed limp performance. It's almost like they're running a racket to get as many lots of £18 as they can.

Let me get this straight, I care not for a single word that comes out of the club until we are in the Football League. You can tell me anything but as long as we're playing teams of butchers, bakers and candle-stick makers then do your talking with your feet.

The idiot Hurst said himself that we lack someone to win headers up front. Here's an idea Paul; why don't you sign someone who can do just that, or better still, play to to the strengths of the players you have. Sign some players who can get round the back of stubborn teams and get them turned. You know, wingers and excrement.

Get Buckley in for the last game John, he may persuade the players not to play hoof ball for that 1 game and give us a chance against the postmen and p.e teachers of this world.

53,000 according to wiki. Even then, they're still part time with a PE teacher in charge. That's not a slight on him by the way, he's a cracking manager. It's more embarrassing for us that he so easily out thinks our manager every game whilst also having to think of lesson plans for 13 year olds.

I think Cleethorpes Town are going to get a surge of fans until Hurst goes

IF YOU PLAY FOR THE BADGE ON THE FRONT OF YOUR SHIRT
THEY WILL REMEMBER THE NAME ON THE BACK OF IT

You can change your wife, your house, your car, but you can never change your team.
Chairmen come and go, boards come and go, but the fans remain.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

Mr Fenty is faceless and gutless, the one man who can change the course of the playoffs will no doubt do nothing. If he really cared about the town and its club surely he must see something has to be done before Sunday. He's probably waiting to see if we win despite Hurst rather than because of him.

Why do we need a plan B with regards to the manager? He hasn't had a plan B for his tactics for a few years?

Would not call John faceless or gutless to be honest but I would call him guilty!

Guilty of destroying our football club, maybe he had/has our best interests at heart, BUT he has systematically presided over the demise of our club and strangely avoids much of the flack.

In business if you get so much wrong you would be sacked, removed from office yet he remains and most don't recognise that we will NEVER arise from the abyss until a new broom sweeps through the club from top to bottom.

The few chances we made during the match did not originate from the kicks up to Monkhouse from McKeown - every team has sussed that easily, and Braintree's manager talked his way through the game in sections, having solutions to everything Town put up against them.

His side are extremely fit, did not lose theuir shape during the game and kept up pressure to tackle every Town player.

We, on the other hand, struggled to move the ball accurately, had the ball bouncing around before being partially controlled then hastily booted away weakly in the general direction of a Town shirt, giving Braintree every opportunity to tackle us easily on every second phase of play.

We get close to their area, they thump our players down, knowing they only risk a booking.

They got close, we run close to them, but no one takes the booking for the team out of the area - penalty !

We don't look fit enough over 90 minutes and the passing is weak, leaving receivers exposed.

Our pace in attack was then really slow, no running into free positions to receive the ball.

Could Clay, Clifton and Venney really be that much worse than those who pretended to be our strongest 11 on Thursday?

Could the normal grafter Hoban do a job on the left wing? - don't care if he never scores if he can lay on two winning goals from a wide area.

Likewise, would East put in a shift on the right wing?

There are players who could come in to make the second game competitive - yes, we're one goal behind, but we have strikers who need service, not feeding off scraps all game.

90 minutes for our brilliant away fans to try to push the 11 on the field to perform some sort of miracle.

Is Arnold fit? Gone so slow on the wing?

The only time I have stopped going to the game was the last 10 games of Mike Newells disastrous reign because he was such a girl private, I hated not going but just couldn't face watching a side playing the Newell way.
I will stop going next season if Fenty persists in employing Hurst.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Tactically bamboozled yet again after a full season to try and figure things out. Been working on trying to break Braintree down all week but nothing changed and no attempt to try something new in game.  Opposition managers seem to know exactly what it do with several different methods pre-prepared for our predictable attacks.

I honestly think he's the wrong manager for this division, but if he did get us up I'd have confidence we won't get relegated on his watch.

I emphasise at the outset that I don't write here to apportion blame, only to reflect with sadness that it always seems to 'end the same' with a collective failure of players and management. I've had a season ticket for the last 3 years despite having to make a round trip of 310 miles to see each home game-and I see around half the games at BP each season. Caught up in the general enthusiasm of last summer, I also contributed generously to the Operation Promotion campaign. I was born in Cleethorpes almost 70 years ago and Town have always been my club even though I lived in Manchester for 4 years and ever since in close proximity to London, where Arsenal or Tottenham would be the more natural stadiums for me to attend. However, as my 70th birthday approaches, I have decided with a very heavy heart, 'enough is enough'. For months now, I have watched poor performances from Town at Blundell Park, almost totally devoid of entertainment value, and I can no longer justify the time and expense of watching these games. Of course, I wish the club well and hope they survive and prosper, and yet I fear they are already embarked on a long descent into further mediocrity. I think I have watched my last game in Cleethorpes, and I'm sorry for that..

It's not John fault. It's down to the chairman!

Sorry to hear the Herts but it's a big ask from you so understand. Hopefully a moment of magic can knock the trajectory of our history in a vastly more positive direction tomorrow. It's a massive crossroads if the players just realise and put on the performance of their lives to change our course (and follow it up in final of course).

And oochiad that's the least of my worries, not going up  fully consumes my worry bank! It's almost hoping we don't go up so make sure get rid of Hurst mentality which absolute craziness... I'd much rather be a League Two outfit -Hurst can be given the boot a few games in if the same old negative crap continues.

Some would say that's harsh but it's about going to next level.

I honestly think he's the wrong manager for this division, but if he did get us up I'd have confidence we won't get relegated on his watch.

I agree he is wrong for this division,

He should be manager of Rotherham.

Sorry to hear that Herts ,although I do not travel nearly as far as you I do make a 100 mile round trip every match.

I have to agree Paul Hurst has sucked away any enjoyment6 I get from watching Town, cannot remember one enjoyable game this season,I am now attending through habit rather than inclination.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you give him an excuse for him to escape from the wife and kids for the weekend and drink lots of beer.

Fenty needs to line-up another manager quickly if Hurst fails on Sunday. Time for him to go.

You would have thought we'd have names in mind but knowing this current regime they probably won't have a clue. The sensible thing is to always keep one eye on other managers you like and any other management movements as you never know what's round the corner. Like I say I have little to no faith in this regime tho.
