I'm sure I read a few weeks ago that he'd signed a new contract. The rules about Premiership clubs having home grown players should help us get a good fee. Look what Manure paid for Jones, and the numbers bandies about for Cahill and Jagielka. In todays wacky market someone could well offer £5m for him

Great news, I hoped he may end up somewhere better than Posh so hopefully this exposure will attract some interest from bigger clubs.

Anyone know how long his contract was? If he runs it down then leaves on a free then I presume we get nothing.

Signed a new contract recently 5 year one? or summit

Funny really.

I heard a good few fans at BP and several on here say that he was over-rated.

Shows what the average fan knows.

That was to give him a pay rise and it will put up the fee if a top club comes in for him,

Good news for him and us.

Ryan played around a 100 games for us, at a very young age.  He coped well with some big brutish strikers.  He seemed to be a mature, sensible character, with a good attitude and willing to learn and develop. Qualities not that common for someone so young.  He was happy to show leadership in organising the defence, and more experienced players.

Much better at CB  than at FB.  All these factors indicate potential. It is still a long way to go.  Worth the though for a top club in the future. His lack of pace might be a barrier.  I hope he looks back on his time with us with great fondess. We enabled him to get his career back on track after leaving Ipswich.

Did anyone expect Danny Butterfield to do so well for so long in a higher Division? Potential is hard to define and predict accurately.
