What do you think is the best TV show of the last decade the seven above are probably the most critcally acclaimed and most popular but some just as good may have been left out South Park, Simpsons, The Shield and The Daily Show to name a few.

Torn between the wire and the West Wing eventually voted for the latter. Absolutely hated the office thought it was nonsensical. But then I don't get Gervaise's sense of humour.

Where's Extras?

I thought that was better than the already excellent The Office.

Once upon a time British television was noted as the best in the world. Now anything home-produced is absolute shite and the better quality shows tend to be US imports.

This is hardly surprising when you look at the listings: Tonight BBC One features several hours of people who can't dance trying to dance in a show presented by someone who is older than Methuselah's grandfather whilst (SH)ITV has several hours of people who have no talent whatsoever trying to make out they have talent in front of a man who has pound signs where his eyes should be.

Whatever happened to well-crafted sitcoms, exciting dramas and programmes that actually made you think?

For the record my vote goes to another US import, The Simpsons. After so long it is amazing how fresh each new episode is.

Not allowed to watch TV in case it warps my brain, my puppies aren't allowed either.

I suggest some of you employ the same tactic before it is too late.

Me too.I pick and choose what i watch now but there is some good stuff out there if you want it.

Had the GF's daughter home from uni for the weekend and she was watching the X factor. My god, what a pile of dogshi*e that is.Why do we need singers that can do a passable impression of a more famous singer.Just listen to the original you clots.

Not a fan but caught a bit of the Streisand appearance on Wossy. Now that is talent. Why do we need these poor imitators?

He is very good, Phoenix nights was absolutely brilliant although he's a lazy stand up. When I was at uni in Lincoln I saw him round about 2000 or 2001 at barracudas nightclub before it became Ponana. It was a great show but he has toured exactly the same show with exactly the same jokes ever since, he also seems to have a new DVD out ever christmas which is pretty much the same each year. Seeing as the last thing he did was that awful X-Factor thing he seems to have ran out of ideas.

I think I'm Alan Partridge deserves a mention too, probably my favorite comedy show of the last ten years anyway.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Phoenix Nights was a superb series, one that you can watch over and over again and notice something different each time. I agree his stand up routine is not much kop and his humour is wearing a little thin now but Phoenix Nights will always be a classic IMHO.

His early stuff was also very funny ...... ice cream salesman, bingo caller etc ....

I think he is/was great for the period early to mid 2000's, bit like Blackadder late 80's Morecambe & Wise early 70's?

Any F&H upto 1990 is great; after that it's not worth a wet fart.

Ronnie Barker is, and always will be, one of our greatest comedy-actors. Even now I think he's much under-rated.

Dad's Army is a classic; I wish a tenth of the effort that went into that went into modern sitcoms. Then they wouldn't be so excrement; Gervais, R. I'm looking at you.

What he said, particularly the Gervais thing.

None of the above ..... Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes were excellent whereas Wire In The Blood, Ultimate Force & The Fixer are all watchable.

Yesss...At last something I agree with you 100% on.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.
