How do you think the peado's from the Plymouth nursery should be dealt with.

I personally am from the "flog em and hang em" brigade.  However, I do admit they must be mentally ill in order to commit the crimes that they have.  If we were to keep them in a secure unit, do you honestly believe they could ever be cured?  How do you feel about the fact that they appear to show no remorse and that they won't admit how many victims there are?

I await the "if you hang em will it prevent others etc" arguement. (it may not desuade others but i guarantee these b@stards can never re-offend if they have been despatched). But apart from that what do you think should be done with these people ?

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Saw a documentary once about one of the states in USA where when found guilty the offender could be given a reduced or nil sentence if he agreed to chemical castration, which takes away the urge. One guy was nothing but positive about the outcome as he said he hated the way he was but couldn't help the urges. If we just brand these people as scum and animals and execute them (which i am vehemently opposed to) we will never get to understand what drives them and how to go about finding a solution.

We could kill every paedo in Britain but more would come along eventually.

They'll go to prison, be out in a few years, be given a new identity, a job and housed somewhere safe.

Be thankful you live in such a humanitarian and caring society...

Why should I be thankful ?  I don't abuse kids.

but getting back to the original point.  What good will sending these people to prison do ?  They must be insane to get pleasure the way they do.  Therefore, unless it is known they are definitely cured (as opposed to punished) they should be detained indefinately or (as I would prefer) despatched.

Flog them, hang them and quarter them. It's time for the victims to become the priority. Punishment must fit the crime. Not that I hold right wing views of course.

We had the solution 40 years ago, and didn't take it.  The way the world is now I just wonder if it would have been better to take it then.

We didn't have to get drunk every night, take copious amounts of drugs, mugging and un-explicable random beatings and kickings were very rare and life was led at a much much slower pace. Then came footie violance, indifferent discipline for kids and the me,me, me society grabbing self centered world.

So it would have been probably the best solution to drop that bomb, the threat of which we lived under for twenty years, granted you lot wouldn't be here now,but those of us who were there then gossiping with St.Peter we would have some fabulous memories of a kinder safer more honest world. A world where a man's word was his bond, the young believed in free love which didn't involve worrying about aids and communicable diseases and England were capable of winning the world cup and the mariners moved up and down the leagues providing fun for hard working prosperous grimbarians.

The views of a cynic. And not to be taken too seriously, although I do believe its a given that the sixties were the very best years to be young.

And sadly this modern world leads you believe that these things were rife rather than very very unusual. Oh and if we'd dropped the bomb Sutcliffe wouldn't have been alive as that was 1979/80.

not at all, many many child abuse cases have only come to light in recent years especially those from childrens homes back then. All that stuff was around then but what you didnt have was the intense 24hr media coverage you get now which makes it look worse. Crime figures are national interest now and reported more and more, will grant that all is not well with society but there was plenty wrong back then too just didnt get reported or just wasnt talked about. Rose tinted specs and the passage of time just mask it.

I agree with Icy,

The 60's was a lot better time to be young than today,

The only thing I can say about todays standard of living and crime is,

Its a lot better to be young today than in 20-30 years from now,

Because I can only see it getting worse.

Sad I know.
