Anyone watch this the other night? Based entirely in Grimsby, but Immingham also featured- go Ming!
A comment struck me at the end made by an officer brought in from S Yorkshire Police that "everyone we've stopped today has drugs on them, that's something unusual for us". The only thing to be taken from this is that Grimsby has an absolutely massive drugs problem. Now I'm not naive enough to think that a town as economically deprived as Grimsby wouldn't have some sort of recreational drug problem, but just how bad do those that live there think it is? Is it ingrained in the lifestyles of everyday people, obviously cocaine being the trendy drug of choice right now for people from every walk of life? Or am I reading too much in to it and Grimsby has no bigger a problem than anywhere else?

If you noticed the south yorkie plod was based in a certian area of the town renowned for unnoficial substances and twocing. The skid marks on certain roads in the estate proove it.

They were Les..... The point about the drugs problem for Grimsby and it being worse is an interesting one. IMO it is probably worse than a lot of INLAND towns of a similar size. As most drugs come into the country via the ports it stands to reason that more of them will find their way onto the open market locally. All that then needs to happen is for there to be people ready to buy...

I have it on good authority that the main drug on the streets of Grimsby remains heroin. I don't actually think that economically deprived areas are hot beds of cocaine use......

interesting comment from the South Yorks copper.
If GY has a much bigger class A drugs problem than elsewhere (as people suspect), I hope the health/council/police have taken note and have a coherent, well-resourced response...treatment, enforcement and all that.

I've always been confused by this term when used about cocaine or heroin (or derivatives thereof). It tries to make such substances appear harmless, even cuddly. Well, they're not. They are highly addictive, they ruin lives, they feed crime and they kill. Where's the recreation in all that?
