I failed mine today, due completely to a shite route. Taking me through Town, when there is major delays and me shaking like a sack of excrement!

How many did it take you all? Hopefully the second time my legs wont be shaking so much I nearly stalled at every junction!

First time, somehow.

I didn't expect to pass so I suppose I wasn't at all nervous.
Good luck next time mate. Try and relax, and plan ahead.

Passed second time: first time got stuck behind a tracor with a plough on the back going through the centre of Birmingham.

Tw@ thought it was funny to go at 15mph, then speed up to 30 every time I tried to overtake.

After a few minutes I was so upset that I'd have failed anyway.

My eldest did that: he already had a car, so we got him insurance and I rode everywhere with him, just to give him some road miles and some experience. (We couldn't get insurance on either of our cars for him: Impreza and Xantia..the stupid diesel Xantia is a group 13 , and the Scoob is a 17)

We went to college, about half a mile, and it took us 20 miles etc. I would drop him off, take the car home, and pick him up at 4pm to repeat the deal. Round town before the shops opened in the mornings,  to get used to junctions, sight lines etc.

He sailed through at the third attempt.

Funny that! Because I am now doing exactly the same. I have a car, all insured and im now out in it pretty much every night. My instructor has refused me any more lessons because I dont need them, the 3rd time should be urine with the practice im going to have.

hes refusing to give you lessons?

my friends instructor was just ripping him off at the end, even though he had 4 practice tests in the lessons before, and had no majors, he said he needed a couple more hours

depends who you get really, my instructor seems to be good

Yep, he will give me one before my test. But says I dont need any more and he doesn't want to rob me. Just practice in my car.

But PLEASE PLEASE remember your instructor's lessons, do as HE said and DON'T pick up any bad habits from whoever sits with you. Otherwise it'll end in tears again

When I sat with my lad, ALL I did was stress observation, observation, forethought, anticipation, and the belief that all other road users are mad, or thick, so drive as if THEY aren't thinking, try and do it for them. You know, a sort of, "That guy isn't using his mirror like he should, so YOU must be ready for him to make an unexpected manoeuvre". "That pedestrian doesn't drive a car, so won't understand that YOU can't stop on a 5p piece, so allow room and expect him/her to step out in front of you".

Nope but its pretty much compulsary. And the fact I have to have his car for the test aswell, it works out as two lessons. £38.

I asked my driving instructor and he told me that is just a myth. However, I think it has come about due to the remarkable inconsistency of most examiners.

I took three tests to pass. I was literally shaking like a leaf as I handed over my provisional licence before each test.

On my third test, the examiner pulled me to one side (that is not in a Carry On sense) and told me to calm down, slow down into corners and then speed up. I thought I'd failed but he passed me. When I told my instructor afterwards of this he suggested I was very lucky and that the instructor must have got the fuck of his life the night before.

Six months later I had my first crash. Doh!

Mr McGee, don't make me angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

I've only just passed and came within an inch of having a head on collision . Some twit was on my side of the road as I went round the corner and I had to emergency stop and mount the pavement to avoid him as we were both going about 50mph. Was very scary and left me quite shaken. He didn't even stop though, sharp object.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Oh dear, Lew, another disaster?

Well, I get to the test center in confident mood. I have had my KALMS and they are working. Nobody knows i'm here, pressure is off. Good confident lesson before hand. I'm going to pass, this confidence is boosted by the bloke renound for being a decent examiner. Drive out the test center and through the dual carrigeway and towards town. I'm flipping nailing everything I do. This is what I failed on, note at the time i didn't know. It didnt even cross my mind.

Turning left into a tight corner with cars restricting my view. I go round, edging around. I couldve looked through cars to try and see but then wouldve been sticking out in the road. So I go round, a taxi is right infront of me. So I put on my brakes, not a full stop, just well judged I thought. I failed doing that.

Didn't even cross my mind that, that was it. I did a poor reverse round corner, getting a minor. This set my nerves off, I had a moment to compose and stalled for the first time in months. Composed myself and set about passing. Drove brilliantly after that. Got to the test center and did my bay park. Thinking "Do this and you've passed Lewis" Composed myself, and got into that space like a pro. YES! Passed, easy passed.

"Im sorry to tell you, you've failed"

4 Minors.

Im gutted, at least my mates dont know!

If you've failed your driving test 5 times then the town of Grimsby is a safer place having you off the roads.

You don't fail 5 times by accident...(or maybe you do, judging by your report!)

Considering I drive them every single day?

Once was a serious dangerous fault the rest, petty little things. It is massively strict imo but ohh well! I will get my license at some point. For now, my Mum will have to put up with my TUNES blasting out for a few weeks longer.

Sounds as if the following insurance claim statements might come in handy for a few of you at some time in the future:

The car in front hit the pedestrian but he got up so I hit him again.

Coming home I drove into the wrong house and collided with a tree I don't have.

I thought my window was down, but I found it was up when I put my head through it.

I had been driving for 40 years when I fell asleep at the wheel and had an accident.

An invisible car out of nowhere struck my car and then vanished.

I was on my way to the doctor with rear end trouble when my universal joint broke, causing me to have an accident
.

All probably quite old, but currently doing the rounds at my workplace...and they still make me laugh.

It's amazing how often people fail despite driving awesomely for their whole test. When any of my friends failed a test it was always because they'd passed the quota that day, the examiner was a tw*t or something like that. Every single one of them was amazing at driving and should have passed first time. At least that's what they told me.

I took 3 tests - the ones I failed were because I was too good at driving and they didn't want me to get too cocky

I feel really lucky, my instructor taught me to drive not to just pass the test.

I did have quite a bit driving experience running 4x4's round farms etc.

I just needed to apply the highway code to my driving!

I thought the bloke was taking the piss at first when he asked me to do a turn in the road. I was in a lorry park at the time which could quite easily get 3 or lorry's side by side!

You'll get there, you may fail the test but it may be because of the amount of experience you have amassed. Just think about everything the examiner is asking you and think of the hoops you have to jump through for it.

Unless that is your'e failing on reading the number plate at the start.

I hope you didn't give them your Fishy name by mistake. No wonder you didn't pass first time!
