Any advice or comfort for failing twice?

My eldest did that: he already had a car, so we got him insurance and I rode everywhere with him, just to give him some road miles and some experience. (We couldn't get insurance on either of our cars for him: Impreza and Xantia..the stupid diesel Xantia is a group 13 , and the Scoob is a 17)

We went to college, about half a mile, and it took us 20 miles etc. I would drop him off, take the car home, and pick him up at 4pm to repeat the deal. Round town before the shops opened in the mornings,  to get used to junctions, sight lines etc.

He sailed through at the third attempt.

Funny that! Because I am now doing exactly the same. I have a car, all insured and im now out in it pretty much every night. My instructor has refused me any more lessons because I dont need them, the 3rd time should be urine with the practice im going to have.

hes refusing to give you lessons?

my friends instructor was just ripping him off at the end, even though he had 4 practice tests in the lessons before, and had no majors, he said he needed a couple more hours

depends who you get really, my instructor seems to be good

Yep, he will give me one before my test. But says I dont need any more and he doesn't want to rob me. Just practice in my car.

But PLEASE PLEASE remember your instructor's lessons, do as HE said and DON'T pick up any bad habits from whoever sits with you. Otherwise it'll end in tears again

When I sat with my lad, ALL I did was stress observation, observation, forethought, anticipation, and the belief that all other road users are mad, or thick, so drive as if THEY aren't thinking, try and do it for them. You know, a sort of, "That guy isn't using his mirror like he should, so YOU must be ready for him to make an unexpected manoeuvre". "That pedestrian doesn't drive a car, so won't understand that YOU can't stop on a 5p piece, so allow room and expect him/her to step out in front of you".

Were you one of Dorien's conquests?

Nope but its pretty much compulsary. And the fact I have to have his car for the test aswell, it works out as two lessons. £38.
