Got a link?

Seems another firm back up to the statements from 1878 about no intent to move.

Agreed, long overdue and think we need to firmly accept once and for all that it's going to be these bit-by-bit improvements we see at the ground rather than big instant ones.

Hopefully more pints will eventually lead to more points. Better match day experience.

I haven't been in the Upper Findus for many years.  I assume this refers to the toilets on the ground floor.  It's an improvement, but still not ideal.  There must be a huge triangular space directly below the upper seats.  The top tier should have originally been built with a refreshment concourse and conveniences at the same level.

This application should not necessarily mean the owners have no intention of relocating.  They might just want to attract potential supporters who have been put off by toilet queues.

If we’re stuck with Blundell Park (and we are, let’s be honest) then as an Upper regular I can confirm these changes are necessary. I’ve never been in the women’s toilets, but honestly I can guess that there simply aren’t enough bogs in there. The blokes urinals are appallingly small and there’s one sh#tter, which is preposterous. The amount of times I see a dad with his young kid waiting for the trap to become free is just not on. BP is a joke, for things like this. Good news the owners are trying to sort that kind of thing out.

But, my god, this doesn’t even scratch the surface.

Much needed this. I’ve been moaning about the layout in the lower entrance for years. Hopefully, the next step will be to remove the wall in between the trust bar and  where the turnstiles are, make it a big open area.

That is what I was thinking. Such a minor improvement but great for all concerned yet there is so many hoops to jump through, and architects involved in simply extending the facilities that are already there within the stadium. No wonder so little gets done.

Structural alterations or additions to buildings usually require planning permission.

They will also require building regulations, especially public toilets, around things like access and minimum measurements, grab rails etc.

Hardly a waste of time and effort IMHO.

There has to be mate . A new ground will never happen now . That boat is long gone . If the docks get developed and things start to turn around for the town then perhaps things might change but no one has got 50-70 mill to spend on a ground

Surely the plan must be extend the pontoon into both corners followed by a staged demolition and rebuild of the main stand we are pissing money up the wall each season on keeping it open

Need to do similar with the upstairs loos at Pontoon end of Findus, rediculous having just a single entrance with two internal doors fitted which open inwards, health and safety death trap, how they pass the fire inspection is beyond me...

Main to Pontoon corner first.

Anything that happens with be incremental rather than a big sweeping change.  Firstly it's a cost issue.  But secondly any work will short term eat away at capacity, that corner opens the most potential to increase capacity so the hit is less when the other renovation/improvement work is happening.

Thank you.

Whilst having a neb at the history of the applications for Blundell Park a few that caught my eye.

1999 - Refused application to turn BP into residential properties, presumably had we got the ground at Great Coates - http://planninganddevelopment......KeyVal=MSK9KB00DT00P

1992 - Approved (with conditions) plans to extend the Findus, sadly no supporting documents - http://planninganddevelopment......KeyVal=MSK9KB00DT00P

Interesting, full list of applications here:

http://planninganddevelopment......keyVal=MSK9KB00DT00P

Looks like there was an intention to put seats in the old corners and put a roof over them back in 1992; presumably cost did for those plans. Also plans to put a gym into the vacant space within the Findus stand, which were refused.

I very, very vaguely remember talk of the gym in the Findus.  There was an incredibly basic gym that was in the Main Stand, possibly where the Youth Bar is now in the mid 90's.  Limited equipment and one thing that always stuck in my mind was that it had a Coca-Cola bike just propped on the wall (normal bike, not a Watt or Spin bike) that Mark Lever won as Player of the Match when said company sponsored the League Cup.

Under the findus you obviously have the turnstiles for the upper, but you also have the ticket office and club shop. You then have a few classrooms and suites that are used for GTSET so I don't think it'd ever be viable.

I completely agree with you about the men's loos, but looking at this plan it looks like there'll still only be one toilet. The one currently in the men's is being removed, as is one of the ones currently in the women's - only one toilet will remain between the two of those, in the new expanded men's loo, with additional toilets being added in the new disabled and moved women's loos.

Possible that I've misunderstood the plans - but if that is the case it is a big disappointment, as I agree with you about it being ridiculous that there's only toilet in the men's.

Very rarely seen the cupible door closed only ever seen it used as a overflow for the inadequate number of urine pots so I would say 1 cubicle in the men’s is enough maximise the pisspot space

Need to do similar with the upstairs loos at Pontoon end of Findus, rediculous having just a single entrance with two internal doors fitted which open inwards, health and safety death trap, how they pass the fire inspection is beyond me...

Eh?  Upstairs loos?  When were they installed?

Whilst having a neb at the history of the applications for Blundell Park a few that caught my eye.

1999 - Refused application to turn BP into residential properties, presumably had we got the ground at Great Coates - http://planninganddevelopment......KeyVal=MSK9KB00DT00P

1992 - Approved (with conditions) plans to extend the Findus, sadly no supporting documents - http://planninganddevelopment......KeyVal=MSK9KB00DT00P

Refusal seems bizarre to me.  BP is surrounded by houses.  Was that meant to be a complete demolition of the ground, or a Highbury-style redevelopment?

I bought loads of matchday programmes in the early nineties, but don't recall any images of a proposed Findus extension.

Thought it was built with that in mind . There is a gap for the tunnel in the middle isn’t there

We had this discussion a few months ago when a photo of the then new stand showed an entrance for teams to come out of. The original intention was to put the changing rooms under the new stand. I don't know why it didn't happen but it looked like a good idea in those days.

So we have had planning applications refused for several projects and yet some posters are insistent that we can expand BP without getting planning refused.

The Findus had tunnel walls when it was first built:

I have no idea if there is space for changing rooms now.  If not, the club could surely use one of the open corners.  The tunnel doesn't have to be on the halfway line.

There have been two refused applications in that list. One from 1988 for use of a vacant stand as a gym, and an outline app for the use of the site as residential. You’ve no idea why either was refused (unless you’ve been down the archives this afternoon) and the second one isn’t relevant anyway as it involves the stadium being demolished

Someone did at the last home game at or before half time in the Ponny end ones in the Upper. Give that man a medal. And a blood test.

Upstairs loos at the Pontoon end of the upper Findus have been there since the stand was built.

You used to be able to access it from the bar but now only from the seating area.

Can they now sort out getting served in the bar at half-time, I miss the bar in the foyer behind the turnstiles.

Not sure you could call it a bar.

I think it has been proven that electric fan dryers are the least hygienic option by blowing bacteria around. The good old paper towel is the best option.

A Professor of Microbiology friend of mine tells me that too. You should also keep the towel in your hand if you have to open the door on the way out.

Great work, once again the Trust stepping forward to lean in shoulder to shoulder with the club.

Thanks, I'm well aware of that.  I was referring to the area inside the stand that was presumably being reserved for changing rooms.

If the club made space now, some seats from the Lower could be removed to allow team access.

After BP is demolished, the logical thing to do would be to extend Imperial and Constitutional Avenue and build more terraced houses.

If the club was applying to do something completely different, like two cul-de-sacs with detached houses, then it's understandable that the council would refuse.

Goodness me, I had no idea.  My dear old dad and I used to sit at the Osmond end.

I assume it is very small like the ground floor.  There's surely no physical reason why a urinal trough couldn't run the entire length of the stand.
