Good luck to the lad, had some chances amd can’t fault effort but being made of glass can’t be helpful at the lower league level.
You’d imagine someone will take a punt on him…

You can’t help but feel for Max & as a local lad, who came through the academy system - I would hope that the club will reach out (i.e. If he needs somewhere to train to build up fitness).
A hugely likeable guy & had a bit of magic as a footballer, which always made him exciting to watch. He undoubtedly has the raw ability of a football league player.
Fingers, toes and everything else crossed it works out for him next season because the window of opportunity is getting smaller, year on year.

My favourite Max Wright moment at 7:10. Brilliant composure under pressure. He has all the talent needed to make it, but question marks over his body remain. I’d love him to get an injury-free season under his belt to show the world what he is capable of. Fingers crossed for the kid. https://youtu.be/NcllKaqptxg

Unfortunately his body isn’t up to the rigours of full time professional football, and will inevitable drift down the divisions into part time. Desperately sad as the talent is there.

Weird message…literally what everyone is thinking. No doubt he is struggling, as are plenty of lads in a similar situation…Hence why Trent Alexander Arnold has set up a support system/charity… But the point still stands, he will likely end up sliding down the leagues, May be he’ll get an injury free season but he clearly struggles to maintain fitness for whatever reason…

Hopefully Scarborough where he had the best form of his career so far. Hope that his body can withstand it for a couple of seasons as it will be a complete waste for that boys talent to not be showcased full-time. Really do feel for him and gutted he couldn't stay fit all the time whilst here or I believe we may have had another Harry Clifton on our hands with Max.

Wouldn't say as much if he wasn't local. Lots of footballers are struggling with injuries all over the country and plenty have from our club yet have been panned for it all season because they didn't grow up here. I know half the fishy are a friend of Max Wright's grandad and have known him since he was a babe in the manger but bloody hell.

Impossible to read that and not feel heartbroken for the lad.
He knows his body is failing him and it reads like he's going through a bit of a grieving process regards his career, this quote sums it up:
“What I have gained is a new perspective on my life and career and I didn’t really think about it nor get upset when I got released, I was just thinking about the next challenge. My spirit hasn’t been dampened, you’ve just got to go where the game takes you.”
I suspect he knows that he isn't going to get another chance at full-time football and is keeping positive about his next challenge. But that burst of positivity only lasts so long. There's going to be some regret and anger for him soon and that's painful as hell.
Genuinely feel for the lad, don't think I've ever wanted a footballer to make it more than I have Max.

I found the most staggering thing in this that he has had to fork out money himself to 'find answers ' visiting various specialists. . That is not a slight on Town ,Harrogate or Halifax - just something I thought clubs would cover the cost of .

Seems the Halifax manager thinks a lot of him, maybe they'll take him on a pay as you play type contact.

I guess to some extent they do but I do remember when he was here last year, Hurst alluded to the fact that some of it could well be a mental health issue, fear/anxiety of getting injured, perhaps that’s what he’s also been looking for answers too. Halifax might take a punt on him as he’s clearly well thought of but I guess he’s coming to terms with the idea that league football is likely out of reach.

I guess clubs pay for an opinion or two, but you can't expect them to pay for a third, fourth and fifth. Bundles of talent, and says a lot about him as a person that so many people want him to do well from various clubs he's played for over the years.

I wouldn’t be too downhearted regarding super Maxi Wright. He already has a few irons in the fire and I’m sure all the love he still gets from folk will outshine the negativity. You can imagine the kid doesn’t need telling a million times about his injuries but has come off social media and is now in a better place and taking a well earned break abroad before his next exciting challenge

I took my lads to play crazy golf near Leeds a couple of months ago. Spotted Max with his girlfriend waiting to start but thought I would leave him alone to enjoy his game in peace. Then he spotted my 7 year old in a town tracksuit and said 'Wow a Mariner' or something along those lines and was really lovely with the kids. He is clearly a very decent lad and I really hope it pans out for him.

I think he got an injury from the knee slide? Loved watching the lad, realy wish he could have an injury free season to see what he could be.
|
| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

Probably the sprint beforehand. Once the adrenaline rush wears off from the goal and celebration it seemed like he was feeling it and not walking very comfortably. When he could play he was brilliant but you could say the same for Scannell too who missed so much time but was great when he did play. There is always somebody willing to take a chance on containing injuries and getting these sorts of games out of players who are injury-prone because they are match winners.

I'm personally a fan of that one he got at Morecambe on the opening day about four or five(?) years back. The new hope for the season felt especially apt for Max Wright and even if it was fleeting, it felt like at that point he could have still gone on to be a hell of a player for us. Also he caught out that fat keeper that had been giving us excrement all match which really topped things off. A lesser spotted Town away win on the first day if the season in front of 1000+ fans, remember it going off in that away end when he sealed it for us. Edit: I say lesser spotted, but I've just remembered we've had wins at Crawley and Chesterfield too in the last 15 years or so.

I can remember half the away end having Ohman first goal scorer at about 66/1, so when he squared it from 2 yards out rather than shooting himself it sort of took the shine off the first goal!

Oh wow, I'd forgotten about Matchday Moments being like that. A bit shakier with an instrumental track and JT commentary, I liked them when they were like that. You can really see how much it mean to Max Wright and nice to see Clifton hugging him. Shame that season dipped as it seemed the squad had a bit of togetherness. I did a search for the match footage but couldn't find it so cheers for posting that. Was a loud away following that, remember not being able to talk at all immediately after it until I got a pint down my neck.

I feel for Max regarding nailing down a place at a football club. Glad other established players higher up the pyramid have alluded to similar on just how hard it is to make it at pro football with some even committing suicide in the process as the burden of failure was to great for them to handle : https://twitter.com/TrentAA/status/1651492090755334145?s=20

We must have paid out a fairly big wedge on Scannell giving him another years contract when it was bleeding obvious he would never be fit again.

I am sure there was an ex Liverpool player who got a pay out but had to stay non league. I think he won the conference a couple of times with different clubs. Must be 20 odd years ago.

There was an ex-keeper of ours who came out of retirement in non-league. He won't be coming out of retirement on 5th August though unless someone is paying his insurance payout back!
