Huge congrats to Harry 'one of our own' Clifton for winning the Supporter's Player of the Year award tonight, among others.

Mention to Evan Khouri too for winning the Supporter's Young Player of the Year award. Really hope to see him featuring more regularly next season. Think he's got a big future.

I get Khouri's potential but not sure he played enough to warrant an award, but that's just my opinion Andy Smith should have got that.

Inclined to agree, i think Smith has been solid all season and by far the most regular feature in the team of people eligible for young player category.

One thing i think Evan winning the award does suggest though is that the fans are very supportive of him and his development, which can only be a good thing for the lad, and for PH.

Bit ominous for Clifton being awarded the POTY Award, or “the black spot” as it’s known around these parts given what often follows for the winner

* 1995: Gary Croft - sold following January
* 1996: Paul Groves - sold that summer
* 1997: Graham Rodger - retired following season
* 1998: Kevin Donovan
* 1999: Paul Groves
* 2000: Mark Lever - left that summer
* 2001: Danny Coyne
* 2002: Danny Coyne - left following season
* 2003: Georges Santos - left that summer
* 2004: Phil Jevons - left that summer
* 2005: John McDermott
* 2006: Rob Jones - left that summer
* 2007: Justin Whittle - left following season
* 2008: Phil Barnes - left following March
* 2009: Ryan Bennett - left following October
* 2010: Peter Bore - left following summer
* 2011: Alan Connell - sold that summer
* 2012: Liam Hearn - injured for almost full following season
* 2013: James McKeown
* 2014: James McKeown
* 2015: Carl Magnay - left that summer
* 2016: Pádraig Amond - left that summer
* 2017: Danny Andrew - left that summer
* 2018: James McKeown
* 2019: James McKeown
* 2020: ''N/A''
* 2021: ''N/A''
* 2022: John McAtee - sold that summer
* 2023: Harry Clifton

Plenty of players leaving immediately after, or during the next season, but not all heading up the leagues.

For me, POTY by a country mile was Luke Waterfall.  If Harry wasn’t a Grimsby lad, he wouldn’t have got it.

Though I don’t agree with your choice I do agree that being “one of our own” helps.

Everyone entitled to their opinion, but Harry is our top goal scorer, scored some important goals and has had a great overall season. I think it’s disingenuous to suggest it’s because he’s a Grimsby lad. If that was true he would’ve won it before….he’s been a mainstay in the starting lineup for years now.

This. Although Ive seen Grimsby only play twice this year Waterfall has always impressed and   reminds me of Grimsby's answer to Terry Butcher. Real warrior and I feel more so than Harry.

I don’t think anyone is questioning Harry’s season. There is a trait in the local area that we look after and favour our own, I’m quite proud of that. It’s not uncommon in costal towns or remote places.

It also manifests itself in the phenomenon of us calling for ex players to be managers and at every window in the last 6 years talking about Bogle coming back🤔
