Inspired by the best away match thread: what’s been the best Town performance of the season? Team or individual if you want.

Three candidates for me all from the cup run (really struggling to think of any league ones I’ve seen): Plymouth H and Luton A and H. We had attacking selection problems in all three (more so than normal) but in the two home games we were absolutely rampant scoring 8 against teams who will be in at least the Championship next season.

The Luton away performance was simply graft and grit to get the result. I was overjoyed to get the replay but what came after was obviously incredible.

Both the Plymouth and Luton home performances were excellent as were the league cup game against Crewe and away game at Crewe…

Plymouth at home was decent, but they were absolutely terrible after taking a 5th minute lead. For me, it has to be Luton at home - we blew them away in the first half and that Amos free kick was the icing on the cake.

Beating Southampton hasn’t even had a mention! Although they are having a terrible season, they still had a far superior quality of player. What they came up against though was a team focused on the job at hand and 4200 northerners full of voice

Plymouth at home as it came as a complete shock that we could play that way....
Sutton oops Crawley away...got my tinpot southern teams mixed up...one league game were we totally dominated play, looked bright inventive and exciting to watch throughout. Only marred by one mistake.

Plymouth as PH and the players worked out how to beat them.

Away? Southampton as we held on for the win.

The late goal ruined it but I also thought we looked great at Crawley.

Should have put that game to bed long before they equalised. We looked very impressive that night.

Luton away. Guile, skill, determination, desire

'I walked in the dressing room. The window was open and I thought that a sea fret had got in. Then I saw smoke billowing from a pipe in the corner of the room...it was my centre-forward. He looked seven stone wet through. He went on to score thirty-odd goals that season.' Lawrie McMenemy on encountering the legend that was Matt Tees.

That could have been written by me. Agreed.

And yes, making a late decision NOT to go to Southampton will haunt me for eternity!

I really enjoyed Rochdale away blazing sun cracking away following and a smash and grab.At home it was great to see quite a few sold out home games Bradford and Stockport best for atmosphere. The early league Cup game vs Forest felt special too a real were back moment.Personally it's felt a long hard Season after such a thrilling finish to the previous one and I only managed 2 away games so the home games have been a bit flat.

Luton home and away for me. The first half at home in the replay was superb. Nice to watch a second half with little or no anxiety!

Anyone else think we was very good at Stockport away. One of the few teams this term to take three points from them at Edgeley Park

Luton at home had everything. Incisive attacking play first half. Calm, unflustered defending second half. Almost impossible to pick a MOM that night.

The aim of argument or discussion should not be victory but progress.

Luton at home.

We looked like the team from the Championship; not them.

The only reason I didn't mention that one was as we went downhill when their fella got sent off , up until that point it was a excellent display in all aspects.

Of the games I've been to it has to be Southampton. Biggest and best party I've ever been to. The pub beforehand was rocking, walk to the stadium, the match, VAR, the ten minutes after the final whistle, driving home listening to talksport and the twenty seven times I've watched the highlights

My favourite league game last season. Thought it was a perfect away performance. We looked really quick and dangerous on the break (shame we couldn't keep that up).

I think the Southampton game will be talked about long after all the other games are forgotten. It put the club into the history books. It was the result that means that we achieved something no other club has in the entire history of the FA cup. Now that really is something!!

Tough call for me between Plymouth at home and Luton away

My expectations for both games weren't high ( especially after falling behind a few minutes in to Plymouth ) but to come back in both of those games gave me the same sort of satisfaction as some of our games last season

When Luton went ahead too I really thought that was it but they didn't count on our team spirit and ability to never give up the fight

Crikey !! ...27 times...That game will go down in "Mariners" History when it comes up in future conversations " Yes I know I was there!"
Most away games for me due to driving are called "Bovril only games!" But Southampton because i stayed overnight
I too was able to join in a few ales to savour the Game / Win / "Harry" / away crowd turnout for midweek match on the South coast.
As for the televised  match saw it  twice before the family removed it off the "planner" You can't erase the memories.
