Thought Town were the better team today, but goals win games. We had more of the play, and more chances, but they took theirs and we didn’t.

Their first saw the Tranmere player get the wrong side, and after slight contact from Holohan, he was always going to go down. The penalty was well taken into the bottom corner.

The second was a very well taken free kick.

To move this team into play off contenders we need to upgrade our strike force, and need wide men who can beat their full back and put balls into the box.

I thought we looked ok. Not consistently great throughout and a fair number of wasted passes that needn't have been but overall a decent game.

Tranmere started bright, then didn't really trouble us but for some moments in the game. They seemed to do well at getting the ball directly forward without any thought or desire to build and play from the back. In open play it did nothing for them goals wise (directly), but having the ball up there granted them the pen and free kick to get the goals to win.

For us, I thought we generally controlled the game and the ball well enough, created some decent half chances with a few we might have done better on with a more ruthless and instinctive striker on the pitch.

Not really going to complain a great deal about it, as a game of football I thought it wasn't a bad one, just a shame we didn't get a few goals for something to cheer about.

Ref was a bit naff again but I think that's standard really this season. Probably not the worst we've had but frustrating still.

It was just one of those games where we couldn't put the ball in the back of the net (or reall test the keeper enough in general tbf) and Tranmere managed to get two goals from a penalty and a free kick.

There wasn't a massive amount wrong other than a ruthless streak though. We've played much worse and won games.
