He's dammed if he does he's dammed if he doesn't. McAtee and Khan where knackered and offering little. Crawley where pushing up field and fresh legs would help as an outlet, they did in the case of O'Neil who was fouled on the edge of the box.
Hurst wasn't to blame for last night's draw the players who failed to finish and a poor refereeing decision where.
Poor refereeing decision? Looked a stupid tackle and a penalty to me.

Had my first legal pint in there in 1967 on my birthday. Knew the landlord's son. We nipped across from the Grammar School at lunchtime via the back door.
Behaviour unbecoming for a prefect! Never been since.
Was the landlords son called John Griffiths?

Not a case of damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t it’s a case of making the right decision in the circumstances and that was clearly wrong.

He was forced into the Khan one as he was heading for a red card. Had been booked, had got given benefit couple times after, any contentious challenge thereafter and he was off.

So what do you think he could have done differently then?

Khan coming off changed the game, whilst having missed enough chances before he went off to kill the game, it just changed our tempo and approach altogether. But it was enforced, had he stayed on he was getting a red card the next time he put a challenge in.
Scannell was disappointing but I'm not sure what's expected when he hasn't played for 3 months. O'Neill seems to have gone backwards. Was impressed with him on his debut but progressively has had less and less impact (albeit, in fleeting chances). Least you expect is him to bust a gut but he just meandered around last night, in and out of possession.
A single one of those countless chances gets taken and we're cooing over the performance. Fine margins and all that. Hardest position to recruit to, but we have a deadly striker and our season looks very different, never mind just last night.

Not taken both Khan and Mcatee off with still 20 minutes to go. If he felt he had take Khan off to avoid a red card which I don’t really buy into then Glennon would have been a better option then a clearly off the pace Scannell. Also Gallagher for Hunt with 10 minutes to go and one goal in it was a risk

Amazingly Max didn't get cramp, but he did open his mouth to the ref for a second yellow on the trot. A peno has been given and, apart from var, it is an odds-on certainty that the ref will not change his mind.

Hurst could have brought on Glennon, Green or Holohan instead of the totally unfit Scannell.

Don't worry folks, this was all part of the master plan.....hand Crawley a point to help send Hartlepool down and then we can grab Umerah from them. Makes perfect sense.
