George Lewis is a comedian who writes on football in The Times.  He lives in Manchester and supports Man United.  His wife and family are from Grimsby.

In the paper today he expects his 2 young sons to support Grimsby as a 2nd team as they get older.  The rules for a 2nd team are for a team light years away from Man United,  Grimsby fit this criteria admirably.

George Lewis is now very worried about this long term  separation of league places.  The 2 teams could meet in the FA  Cup final!

This would mean family rows about who to support, where to sit etc.

Much worse is that Harry Haddock is more appealing to his children.  United have the perfect role model in Marcus Rashford.  But there is no inflatable Rashford.  

Last Thu he was woken at 5am by his screaming kids.  This is normal.  What was not normal was waking up and facing a large fish.  A Harry Haddock.  

It occurred to him that children have no concept of history. Their decision as which team to support would impact on them for the rest of their lives.  With our cup success capturing their imagination and Harry Haddocks to hit their dad over the head with, drastic action was needed.

He punctured both Harry Haddocks (sacrilege) with a fork.  Not so much fun waving around a limp bit of plastic .
