Defeat tonight and we could find ourselves 6th bottom. The cup run is definitely covering the cracks this season

We need a couple of McAtee goals tonight and so does he to justify his end of season transfer to Luton in the much higher division.

I don’t think he has to justify anything. If he never does another thing he’s got a deserved place in our history - and the chance to play at a couple of levels up. Without him we’d still be playing non league, dreaming that one day we’d get to visit Gillingham on a cold Tuesday night…

Stupid by Glennon that could easly be a red

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Glennon is really fortunate there, many refs would have sent him off.

That's ridiculous judgement from Glennon, lucky lucky boy. He was very lucky with one earlier in the season similar to that in the rained-off game with Carlisle

I want to see it again. I think both players went flying in, if the bloke didn't dive around and spin around for half an hour the ref may not have given any card.

If we could be a bit more careful with the ball in possession we’d create some chances.

Glennon could have took a touch there I suspect.

Credit to the lads they’re giving it a go, just need some shots on target now.

Can't help but feel if/when Tondeur says "and there's the goal", it'll be us dropping a bollock gifting it to them. Doing alright though. Lloyd is great, such a workhorse, what you need away from home. Shame he isn't 3 inches taller

A grand total of 5 shots between both teams and bot a single one even close to being on target.

A question Morris does know he's allowed to look forward and look for a pass before he has to pass it backwards right?

Better side without looking overly threatening although to be fair, with a little more composure with the shooting boots we may have had a couple.

Why?

I only ask because I’m watching it and I think Tondeur has over egged Morris’ lack of quality. Don’t get me wrong he’s not played great but I’m not sure he’s had a shocker or stinker. It’s Jst seemed like a bit of an over reaction to me.

Think Tondeur's been a bit harsh on Morris. He's operating in that defensive midfield role against a very physical side and holding his own. Also set up the Glennon chance and prevented them from getting a tap in.

You missed the back passing into our six yard box?

Another awful litany of poor passing, ball watching, players going for the same ball and failure to look after the ball in their half.

Clifton's poor touch exposed again. We need to move quicker to support the man with the ball so the back pass is not the only option.

Ref missing their shoves but seeing all ours.

Michee the hardest working.

Looking comfortable I thought other than when we have created our own issues.
The midfield grafters just not got the cutting edge to move the ball forward at speed or accurately enough to help that final transition.
Looks like plenty of space in the centre if we could use it properly.

I only ask because I’m watching it and I think Tondeur has over egged Morris’ lack of quality. Don’t get me wrong he’s not played great but I’m not sure he’s had a shocker or stinker. It’s Jst seemed like a bit of an over reaction to me.

At the time I posted it every touch he’d had was a mistake and a turnover to them - 4 or 5 times
He did well after that to cut out a dangerous ball in
Hope he gets in the game from now on but to me it looked like he was having a shocker
I wouldn’t comment if I wasn’t watching

In other news, Podge opens for Woking at Wrexham, with the score 1-1 at half-time. Meanwhile, Notts County are 0-1 down at home to Barnet.

Woking and Barnet 3rd and 4th respectively. That’s some year-on-year improvement, for Barnet especially.

Ref missing their shoves but seeing all ours.

I don't think we have any right to moan about ths ref considering Glennon is still on the pitch

Ridiculous comment. Hunt was excellent at Luton and Crewe. Didn’t get into the game on Saturday but who did?

You might not agree with it but it's hardly ridiculous.  He has hardly played this season and he is hardly in form or he would be playing.

Not sure our front two are quite working so far though. Neither are really suited to holding it up and the balls just not sticking when it goes up front.

Hunts not been in form since he scored that cracker when we were in the Conference.

Don't get me wrong he's had good games inbetween but he's not in form nor has he had more chance to find any

It’s funny how peoples views are affected by the commentary they listen to.

He’s been nowhere near as bad as Tonduer seems desperate for him to have been IMO

I love listening to Tonduer because he’s been there all my life but when he decides early doors someone isn’t doing so well he spends the rest of the game reinforcing it.

As others have said, Morris is playing no where near as badly as he suggests.

We need to be a bit braver on the break.

Agreed Lloyds a worker who you are hoping for scraps off would look like to see Orsi holding it up there as he did twice against Luton

I thought you may have been listening and going off the commentary was all. I just saw a difference between the actual play and what was said over it. We obviously have different ideas on what constitutes a ‘shocker’ is all.

Absolutely disgusting this half, just played like a bunch of panicked schoolboys, zero composure anywhere on the pitch, shocking defending, shocking passing, balls given away all over the place, so of course they've punished us by scoring.

We have been proper excrement the last two games.
We seem to have no game plan.
Still time to get something out of thos but think changes sooner rather than later.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Some gutless decision making here. So often we pass it into midfield with the opportunity for a town player to turn and play it forward, but they take the easy option of passing it back into defence where it came from allowing Gillingham to get men behind the ball. Are they all afraid of making a mistake?

Losing and looking absolutely clueless against a team below us for the second time in three days, and have lost 8 of our last 12 in the league before this one. If you don't like people expressing concern about this stay off the internet.

That was dire Glennon is knackered could make the space or cross, we play it across mid field and it’s left to Andy Smith to provide the killer pass.

I know Hurst said the more people cry out for subs the less likely he is to make them but surely we need some fresh impetus with 20 minutes or so to go?

We're losing, not playing well, wasteful with the ball and we don't look like we're going to score any time soon. So who do you think has been the first to make a sub and try and change things up and get a reault...

You don't need three centre halves on when you're 1-0 down against the team second bottom of the league with 16 minutes left to play Paul. Get another midfielder or attacker on and put them under some pressure.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Why would it? First half neither team did anything and we've been 3rd best for most of the second half.

Let's face it there's a lot to moan at. Right now I would swap the Southampton game for 6pts any day of the week.

We are getting sucked in to a relegation fight.
Its has the feeling of the 20/21 season

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

When we're 6 points off relegation, playing excrement football, getting pretty much out fought and out battled I think we're allowed to f@cking moan!...!!!

And you think the garbage some people are shouting on here boosts the players confidence for the next game?

And we have Northampton and Carlisle away and Orient at home - 3 of next 4 games I think?

Not good

We had a very poor transfer window I'm afraid
Have no consistency at all
Pretty poor quality

It's worrying

Why would it? First half neither team did anything and we've been 3rd best for most of the second half.

Because we are getting sucked into a relgation battle, I'd of took a draw before the game but we keepn losing these games we could take points from.

This is a message board, it is not tagging the players in criticism on twitter and instagram where they will actually see it. You are deluded if you think supporters shouldn't be allowed to complain on message boards when their team isn't performing because it might upset the players (who'd have to go miles out of their way to actually see any of it).

If the players are looking this message board then it's time to get another job!...and if they look in the mirror they'd agree they've been shite!!..
We're rubbish, no ifs, not buts, no maybes..you wanna bury your head in the sand, then be my guest because what the majority are watching is a team sliding down the table quicker than a whores drawers having a £50 note waved in her face!!

We played ok first half but Gills almost completely dominated the second and fully deserved their win. We're an OK team, nothing more. Hopefully we've got just about enough to stay up.

I'm not happy that we are losing, but you will never see me post anything on here belittling the players, or slagging them off.  Also, some people forget we have 5 games in hand of some teams above us.  If we lose all 5 then we could be in a fight to stay up,

Not sure which was worse our team, the ref or the linesman on the far side... being a qualified ref myself I know it isn't easy, but this blokes a joke. How the intercourse is that a free kick let alone a yellow card for Waterfall. Since Luton we've been awful. Everyone loses games, I can accept that. But we are creating next to nothing and noone seems to have that extra 10%. Waterfall looked angry as intercourse all night. Ran 30 yards at one point even though we was about to defend a free kick.

Our passing and positioning has been poor tonight with too many hoof ball passes again.

Another night when we have been muscled out and out passed.

Although the officials have been very poor again, we have to rise above that and play better.

They seemed to want it, we didn't tonight.

Bring back Emmanuel - he has time and some skill to take players on.

Threw a decent point away with urine poor decision-making, sitting too deep. Hate to say it but seemed to lack leaders out there. Should have been down to 10 for most of it but the ref was utter male masturbation and got most wrong

Lumping it up to two lightweight strikers against a load of giant centre halves against low quality opposition for two matches in a row. Not a surprise it hasn't worked. Absolutely mad Hurst thought he could just use the same tactics we employed against Colchester again tonight. Bloke needs to work out how to utilise his squad a lot better than he is doing right now.

Totally wrong.  I was not whinging about him missing the sitter, as you put it,  I was saying that I thought it was him that missed it, I was wrong and admitted it, and apologised.  So don't try putting words in my mouth that I didn't say.  In other words, stop making stuff up.

I really don't think we'll see Taylor again.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Problem is how do you change the set up to make us competitive? We’ve got no target man to play off, we’ve got no real pace anywhere in the team, our midfielders are all much of a muchness but would probably get overrun in a midfield two. We don’t really have any decent natural wide players now Khan is injured either. I genuinely can’t think of a system that we could deploy that would not have a glaring weakness. How excrement is that for squad planning?!

FA cup run papering over an otherwise very poor season and questions need to be asked. It’s no good having games in hand when you’re incredibly unlikely to win them on current form.

Another poor display and its looking like relegation form failed against 2 teams below us in a week. Think we will need to rely on Pools, Crawley and Rochdale continuing to be as bad. Worst part is we aren't really creating much any more.

How is the bloke still in the job?

Fooked if I know.
I have supported the bloke but this is 20/21 all over again.
May be it's time for him to go before it's to late.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

We have gradually got worse as the season has gone on, we've gone from looking relatively solid to being a bit of a pushover in the league.

Compare the bench in the early games of the season to tonight. We have let too many reasonable players go and had a terrible transfer window and now have a bench of players who have hardly played and youngsters. If you don't invest properly in the team you struggle, and we still don't seem to have grasped this simple concept.

Why the intercourse, just once, can't we have a comfortable season in league 2 where we don't have to be worried about relegation. Take the cup out of the equation and Hurst's current performance has to be called into question.

Hurst deals with the playing side. He says he’s had the money that he’s needed. This is his squad but we seem to be playing Russian roulette with our league status. I’m really not convinced.

I would agree that’s probably our best bet. But still massively lacking. No target man to play off. No pace. Would you put Clifton out wide? Who else? Glennon? We don’t really have a single fit, natural wide player. Awful squad management and a poor transfer window no matter how people want to dress it up.

We tried that in the 1st half of the season it wasn't any different that what we get now.

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

Or, decent squad management give what is seen week in week out in training but individual mistakes that lead to confusion or goals?

We’ll lose games, simple as that. No point flipping cryarsing or over thinking it, life is too short, and after the week I had last week, I won’t be worrying too much about a excrement defeat at gillingham.

Think we're losing too much of Harry's influence with the 3-man midfield too. He's been much more effective when out wide.

Just awful. Badly lacking any pace or creativity.

Don't know why Kiernan was sent back personally in a squad so lacking in genuine pace. Lad might not have been a world beater but we're badly missing a player like that.

Not very good are we?

Regularly losing to teams below us, and the way we are playing, there soon won't be many teams below us.

There are still teams poorer than us though and tonight's results showed that, so it's not panic stations just yet, but it'd be nice to have a little positive run and take some of the stress out of the situation for us fans.

It's fooking draining always looking over your shoulder in League 2.

Orsi showed against Luton he can be relied upon to hold the ball up a bit and put himself about. Not ideal but he's the best bet. I think it's been very harsh considering his performances in those two games, that he's been benched for the league games since.

You think it’s good squad management to have a team so utterly reliant on one 34 year old striker as a springboard for attacks? And then to not replace said player during a transfer window if you know he’s injured? Or to get some players that would allow us to play a different way?

Shocking tonight. We are sleepwalking are way further and further down the table. I got shot down the other day for daring to criticise the cup run, however for me the league is more important.

Colchester and Gillingham were two teams in shocking form before the transfer window. Both went for it and both have beaten us in the last two games.

Last two games have worried me due to the lack of intensity and cohesion, and how easy we roll over against limited teams with a bit more fight and battle than us.

Working out well leaving hurst in total charge of the playing side . Not enough of the players we need . Too many budies that he dont want to upset . If i was Orsi or scannel i would be banging on Hursts door ans asking what the foook . Folk keep banging on about this and that formation , its not the formation  its the low quality players we have . Because they wont pay the going rate for decent players. New training ground is needed but there will be no need when we go out the league again , and all this background staff Hurst argued for have got us nothing . In hurst i dont trust one bit

Wait until the next transfer window we aim to improve on every one .I know it's only 3 games in from the end of this window and it will be better judged after 10 games .But up to now panic signings of young kids doesn't appear to be working as it didn't in the summer .

But again its wait untill the next window  the next season the next this and that and it never happens. Hurst needs the rug pulling out from under his slippers, He is a non league manager and only average at that . We dont want fancy sprinklers and nasty dock water beer or meat pies that have 2 pieces of extra meat in them or  4,5,6, Million pound training center We want a team of good players what part of football team does our not so new owners not understand. This team would not be anything in none league let alone in the league

Loans from Cheltenham or untried kids from u23 teams aren’t going to cut it with the fans this summer . There’s going to have to be some serious reinforcement that show some intent on the pitch .
I asked my 9 year old lad on the way home where he thinks we’ll be this time next year and he said 17th !!

The transfer window showed me that we either have a lack of cash or a lack of ambition. Possibly both. It’s been masked by a few cup wins in which we were more hungry than the opposition. It’s not just our home league form that’s poor, our performance level has been equally bad.

There no lack of ambition and there is and has been some cash but not as much as other teams have, Hurst eluded to that post match yesterday.

People equate spending money as an illustration of ambition, a strategy that doesn’t always work and you need deep pockets.

If you listen to what Hurst said at the forum he had problems getting players to come. The conversation to Dallas went along the lines 'Can we talk to you about coming to Grimsby? Answer NO'. If they don't want to come they don't want to come. He also said he had problems with unnamed others.

Funny that. The goalposts are moving from 'getting in or around the play offs' (the chairman's words) to survival. That suggests things aren't going terribly well.

I'm neither pro or anti Hurst. When he goes, I doubt we'll get much better, but I have to question his seemingly bomb proof status.

If you listen to what Hurst said at the forum he had problems getting players to come. The conversation to Dallas went along the lines 'Can we talk to you about coming to Grimsby? Answer NO'. If they don't want to come they don't want to come. He also said he had problems with unnamed others.

Well, if the conversation went like that, no wonder we can't attract our top targets!

To be fair I think Dallas would have said no to most league 2 teams as it seems he thinks he can do better in the summer.

Dallas - "How much are you offering"
Hurst - "intercourse all, but you'll get to run around lots and play for a team with morals"
Dallas - "I think I'd prefer decent money"
Hurst - "You think you're better than us"
