It taking anything away from our performance but it does make you wonder if they had much interest in this game .
The promised land of the Premiership is worth throwing a cup run away for these days

I think there's little doubt about that.  If Luton had started the match with the XI that finished it we might be 'concentrating on
the league' now (whilst proudly acknowledging a great cup run).

But it works for underdogs like us, so I'll take it.

And it could work again for us at Southampton - who hopefully retain some realistic chance of Premiership survival when we meet.

You can be sure if they appoint a new manager his large bonus will depend on keeping them up, without reference to the FA Cup.

All the teams at the bottom of the PL are so poor that I can't see how they'll get cut adrift.

Happy to take your word for that - I barely watch any Premiership games these days.

Just read that Sean Dyche will receive a 3.5M bonus if he keeps Everton up.

Puts our earnings from the FA Cup run into perspective.

Leeds, Bournemouth, West Ham, Everton and Soton lose an awful lot of football matches. I think Everton will improve a bit but not sufficiently to get themselves clear before March 1st

The narrative of a Championship side playing a weakened side is lost on me..🤷‍♂️

Might escape some but their budget, and stature of players dwarfs ours. Furthermore..we weren’t exactly near full strength ourselves..particularly at their place.

I’m a tad pleased Edwards hasn’t made excuses. All the credit should go to Grimsby in this tie..both games. Tremendous achievement.

He’ll get pelters for his team selection but he’s been really honest and gracious. In complete contrast to several of the other managers we’ve come up against in recent times.

Not quite sure what point you're making.

Luton did field a weaker side at BP - check out some of the hysteria on the Luton forum if you're in doubt about that.

But - for the reasons you mention (budget/stature of players) - Town deserve full credit for putting them to the sword last night.
You can only beat who you're up against...

In my mind, the draw at Luton was the more astonishing performance of the two ties.
But the home game will obviously live longer in the memory.

The only ‘point’ I’m making is I wouldn’t want anything taken away from what we achieved, over both legs. Largely gone unnoticed by media, the guy commentating on the game at their place didn’t have a clue about us, nor the fact we had players not able to play etc. That said..the commentary/punditry from Lyle Taylor on 5 live Sports Extra was excellent.

And yes, aware of the weakened side they played - but again that shouldnt take anything away from us. 👍
