Manchester United so that it's both them and Southampton ticked off as the remaining teams I haven't seen Town play against. Cockers' testimonial doesn't count.

Man Utd away loads of money from that gate and about 11,000 town fans able to attend.

The weakest team at home. There are no replays so finish them off at BP then Wembley in the semis. I think I once said that even if I lived to 1000 I wouldn't expect to see Grimsby play in a Wembley FA Cup match. I still wouldn't mind living to 1000 but if I don't I would like to see Grimsby take the field at Wembley in my allotted years

If we make it to Wembley I’ll have more than a semi.

A year ago today we had a 0-0 draw at home to Kings Lynn and looked doomed for a long spell in non-league. Now the Europa League is just 4 wins away,

Who do we want in the Europa League qualifiers? HJK Helsinki? Trabzonspor? Dundalk?

Let's not. Look how wound up Billy Sharp was when Wrexham did that. Keep letting the other team underestimate us.

Boss, boss, it's the plane (one for the oldies)
I've been watching town for a long time and the greater the hopes, the harder the bump. Just concentrate on getting a Southampton ticket rather than a seat at Wembley!!!

Brilliant result last night and huge respect to the players and Hurst for achieving a great result. I personally don't like jumping too far ahead though . Take each game as it comes eg your only as good as your last game as the dad of the great Stanley Mathews use to tell his prodigious son.

Well, in reality we pretty much expected to go out in then first round. We have had four tough fixtures to get this far.
Southampton beat Man City recently, so it might be wise not to get our hopes up too much, but whatever happens, we can be immensely proud of the lads getting this far. And the financial ramifications could be highly significant going forward.

Getting waaay ahead of ourselves, were Town to progress to the semi-final, with Man City, Man Utd and Spurs the other three clubs, would we automatically qualify for Europe if all three of those finished in the top 4 (thus making the Champions League)?
Something quite amusing about having a semi-serious discussion about European qualification, less than a month after having our árses handed to us by Swindon Town in League Two.

Don't think so, after the finalists it goes to the next highest team in the Premiershite

Right then, we’ll just have to make it to the final then in that case. Am I right in thinking we haven’t made it to a quarter final since we made it to the semis in 1939?

It's been a ridiuclous run hasn't it! 1st round - Plymouth at home (best ranked team in the competition at this point) Horrible draw, nobody was happy Won 5-1 2nd round - Cambridge away (away at a team in the league above) Horrible draw, nobody was happy Won 2-1, last minute winner Now lets get that big team!!! 3rd round - Burton at home (Another team in the division above) Horrible draw, nobody was happy, but winable i guess Won 1-0 Okay, okay, now lets get a big team! 4th round - Luton away Horrible draw, nobody was happy Drew away with a heroic performance from all, and extra money even if we do lose at home, as they are 4th, 2 leagues above. Win 3-0 at home What a mad run

We would have to get there first but as we are getting carried away with ourselves, I imagine there are some infrastructure requirements so worst case, we might have to play our Thursday games in Hull.

Getting carried away I'd like to think we beat Southampton and get Man U away to make huge amount of cash. Even with my positivity, I can't see us getting into the final but promotion to league 1, yes.
Money in the bank to stabilise us in league 1. Yep, I get carried away, but it's nice to dream.

That was the league Cup, if you won it you qualified for the uefa Cup but only if u were in the top division as it replaced a spot that would normally go to the 7th placed (or some position like that) team. The fa Cup was different as winning it gave you automatic entry to the Cup Winners Cup by right, regardless of league. They then merged the Cup Winners Cup and uefa Cup into the europa Cup. Therefore I would presume the Winners of the fa Cup still qualify regardless of which league they play in as they have won the competition that feeds directly into it. If you finish runner up in the fa cup and the winners are in the champions league i'm not sure whether you would qualify for europa if not in the prem tho. I'm sure it will all be irrelevant to us though lol

Man City in the next round, the day after they e been given a ban and have to use their under 15’s instead and we scrape a 1-0 win Reminds me of a story I heard about Ossie Ardiles when he was in charge at Newcastle. He played ‘shadow football’ so the starting x1 could get some confidence from open play after an awful run of results, so they didn’t have opponents. At kick off, they set up, played the ball back to the midfield, onto defence and then the keeper. Problem was, Tommy Wright (the goalkeeper) was still putting his gloves on as the ball went past him into the goal!!!
