The only player linked is Joe Dodoo and I’d be massively surprised to see us sign him given only York were interested in him and his record is poor

24 in April with only 12 league appearances, plus another 11 earlier this season for Gateshead in the National League. Presumably just an extra body for cover in that left wing-back role.

He reckons he pretty fast which is helpful as we do lack pace. Can play as an out and out winger which means we're less likely to see Clifton put on the wing. Always helpful to get another left-footed player in the squad and it will be up to him and Wearne to battle for a place in the team.

Big of a random one especially given what Hurst said but hopefully hits the ground running and does well for us.

Any more free agents liable to be signed ??

Probably affordable, and players who having been released should want to prove their last club wrong !

If he shows some pace, then it's an area where both current left backs have been caught out with in recent matches.

Welcome, and good luck !

It’s an underwhelming signing in the same vein as Danny Amos and Jordon Cropper were a year ago. Turned out alright.

I think he is a good signing, someone who hopefully will make good use of his opportunities when he gets into the side and gives us options on the left side the same way Effete does on the right.

Dead Eye Dobbin stood motionless waiting, waiting, waiting for the ball to arrive. Back came the right foot, Down came the right foot, Bang ! Headlines around the world as the ball flew into the very top right hand corner of the goal.( Jim Dobbin scoring in the 89th minute for Town against Newcastle United away 24/10/1992 )

Was told yesterday that we might be in Joe O’Shaughnessy as goalkeeper back up for Crocombe.

Odd one really. Recalled by Wolves from his loan spell at Bradford, only to be released but is continuing his training with Bradford.

What's the obsession with defenders ?  Don't really get it . Why do we need 3 left wing backs ?

Because our two natural LB/LWBs have been injured (or suspended) for chunks of the first half of the season. When they have played their defensive work has been suspect and that flank has been our weakest spot.

I still think Glennon will be much better next season with a full pre-season under Hurst.

It makes sense to me, Efete has come under some crazy criticism yet in games against significantly better opponents he’s been excellent, last week he was great whereas Glennon suffered. Not necessarily his fault because the guy he was up against was a good player but him and Amos have been ok but we’ve suffered down that side…as was pointed out when everyone seemingly wanted Efete gone.

You’d imagine this lad will be cover like Cropper was but may be he’s got a bit more about him, may be he can play on the right too should we need him.

Boosting our supply of defenders who have experience or pace strengthens the bench. It should be less likely that Harry has to fill in at full back sometimes when he is having a good season at the other end of the pitch.

I think the 'Can also play as a left-winger' bit of his resume is the important part. If we'd signed Vernam, we probably wouldn't have got this guy in.

Interesting to see that Hurst apparently tried to sign him at the start of last season, but he didn't want to drop out of League football. Would probably have been better for his career if he had joined us and was playing games more regularly.

As we are being set up to play 3 at the back having an extra defender or two won’t hurt especially if it’s a full back with pace, even better if they have decent delivery which to be fair both Glennon and Amos have too.

So 4 first team CB’s, when fit 3 LB’s and 3 RB’s and Michee can fill in at CB that’s that bit sorted, In mid field we have enough and some lads who can do different jobs. Up front though unproven it looks like we have a few options as well.

Maybe it’s not all doom and gloom, win today would help mind.

With this signing and the signing of Emmanuel on the other side, we have two versatile full backs/wing backs, which gives us more pace and options down the wings.

Isn't emmanuel meant to be able to cover central defence too? Or I might be getting mixed up with mularkey

That was Mullarkey, I think.

If we're going to play three at the back, I think the cover will be Efete, who did a decent job there against Burton, and Green who I understand stood in at the back for Halifax on occasion.
