Was it 0-2 at Leeds in 98? I think before that was the Valentine Day's Massacre of West Ham in 96 after a replay?

Bolton 99 or early 2000 it was the season Buckley kept playing his kid even though he was rubbish, lost 0-2. I remember the game because my mate had a go at Mark Fish who was riling up the pontoon by sticking two fingers up at him and he responded with a peace sign followed by a plastic cup hitting him in the chest. Mark Fish walked away looking dejected at not making any friends in the pontoon.

Think you are right. For some reason the 3rd round in 99 was in early December

https://thefishy.co.uk/story.php?id=8388374

The Chelsea game in 96, which was Round 5 was the last time we made it to February. The West Ham game away in the 4th round was postponed that year which was it was played midweek. I remember someone cycled from Grimsby to Upton Park and it was snowed off.

Yeah. Bolton 2000.

Abdul posted a link the other day. Eidur ‘Down’ Gudjohnsen and Bo ‘Selecta’ Hansen did the damage.

The world’s changed a bit since then. The queen, and her mum, were alive. 9/11 hadn’t happened. Social media didn’t exist. Pandemic’s only happened in movies.

It’s funny, ‘cos you can watch old videos of Town at BP over the years and it all looks so familiar, like time itself paused some decades ago. And yet so much outside the gates has changed, the world is barely recognisable.

As an aside, does anyone know where to find any footage of that last gasp 3-2 win against Stockport that led us to the 4th round, all the way back in 1999? I’ve looked in all the usual places and can’t find it anywhere.

Bolton had a whole Scandinavian invasion going on at that time. Interesting how different the careers of the two scorers from this game went, Gudjohnsen went on to play in the Premiership for Chelsea and then joined Barcelona among other European teams while Bo Hansen only played one season in the Premiership managing just a single goal before moving back to Denmark with FC Midtjylland but only managing one season as his next he suffered injury issues and was diagnosed with Osteoarthritis which ended his career.

Huddersfield was the third round. A late Aswad Thomas OG won Huddersfield the game and denied us a replay and place in the fourth round draw.

When did we last have three straight wins without a replay?

I don't know about the cup but we had 3 straight wins, in style, at the end of last season.

Assuming you mean in the FA Cup, 1988-89.
Grimsby 1-0 Wolves
Grimsby 3-2 Rotherham
Middlesborough 1-2 Grimsby

...followed by a draw against Reading

...and the time before that was in 1938/9.

In 1935/6 we won four in a row, and in both 1892/3 and 1895/6 we won five in a row!

I remember being crammed into the corner near where loads of their mob were in the seats in the stand behind the goal to the right of us giving them the finger when we scored the winner.

It was pretty dodgy getting away from the ground that afternoon.
