Amazed no-ones jumped in yet. A typical "this season" away performance with the important difference being our one up was Mcatee. We started slowly but appeared to realise that Cambridge weren't actually very good and grew into what became a pretty evens-stevens first half. Neither keeper being called upon to display the talents of the role. A word here though about Luke Waterfall. The archetypal committed player. At times it looks like he has a ball magnet strapped to his head. But it is more than that. His reading of the game is great and his decision making first class. The second half started far more positively and Kiernan and Mcatee started to stretch Cambridge at the back. The only down side up to this point was the unwillingness of all players to shoot (except Mcatee obviously). Some great work down the right from Kiernan eventually led to Khan hammering the ball home from inside the box and for the next fifteen or so Town looked very comfortable. Against the run of play a header appeared to deceive Crocombe for the equaliser but to their credit Town didn't settle for a replay. Holohan inexplicably blasted over from five yards but a superb pass from Simmonds put Khan through and he never, ever looked like missing. The fans were great. Pleased to report there is no danger of Mcatee coasting through this season. Happy days.

A typical Hurst performance - hard working and disciplined. Am sure any neutral would've thought we were the 1st division side Otis, Mcatee and Kiernan were all buzzing around. Kiernan in particular worked his socks off, and would be my motm, if it were not for Khan's 2 goals. Echo the thoughts about Waterfall - he's been magnificent all season. Don't think Crocombe covered himself in glory for their totally unexpected goal, but otherwise he was as solid as usual.Maher did well, but still think Smith is a superior player. Michee had a decent game, didn't think Clifton was as influential as usual. 2 great finishes by Khan (who'sa great find, a little bit of McAtee about him), as opposed to Holohan who couldn't have shot any higher if he'd tried, when he had a gilt edged chance in the 2nd half. Should add that Green was at his destructive best BUT am still worried by his lack of passing ability
great all round team performance - let's hope we get our just rewards with the draw. Oh and that's £108,000 in the bank so far, without the share of the gate receipts

From the highlights, Crocombe seemed to get his feet all tangled up somehow. He should have been jogging across to dive on that one given the speed it was moving.
Two very calm finishes from Khan, which is good to see given our problems bagging goals this season.

I've said for a long time and always liked to see more pace going forward in a team.. having mcatee, Khan and kiernan buzzing around then the likes of Clifton aswell, we will panic teams.

Great result, could be a real game changer this season, good to have a boost of confidence going into Christmas and some money in the coffers ahead of January.

With Town playing more on the ground nowadays Cambridge's 3G pitch seemed to really suit them. I bet there are a few skin sores after the winning goal celebrations. - get the Germolene out Dave.
