Oh dear......what a way to win friends and influence people.

I was already considering actively missing chunks of this tournament and coverage but that opening statement has reinforced that thought.

Hmmm. I wonder who will win the Football TotW? You can only imagine that he's getting a hefty pay-off.

The documentary on Netflix is an eye opener…there’s corruption, there’s fifa corruption and then there’s the levels of corruption the Qatari government were prepared to go to get the World Cup…

Absolute plonker and reinforces my decision to completely boycott tbe tournament, The FA and Uefa should have taken a stand against corruption  the moment it was confirmed bribes had taken place.
That this sham has been allowed to go ahead tells me everything I need to k ow about FIFA and its lip service towards human rights abuses, corruption and good old fasioned sportmanship and fair play.
Yes I am one person boycotting and no one will notice but Im sure there are thousands of others out there like me who can rest easy at night knowing we have truely taken a stand.

Im only going to watch a lot of games because I'm off sick from work and struggling myself to be motivated and hoping some football will help... I'll be watching it all through a dodgy stick so I assume it won't count towards the 'viewers attendance'

You still don’t need a dodgy stick. ITV hub or bbc iplayer on the tablet. Y are you bed ridden ? Are you injured

I'm not bed ridden, I need to not over exercise (10mins walks) and have an ecg Tuesday... Anyway, why does it matter? I'll be watching the games. Just like I'm about to watch the mighty mariners

Why would I, that means I have to watch the over paid anaylsis people talking rubbish at half time whereas if i use my proxy app i can watch live airports and zoo cams  

In all seriousness though, I probably will use the apps just so it does run smooth with no play back errors.

The (English) FA should have immediately told their team to pack up and come home. I'm sure many others would have followed.

Instead, our weakling National Football Association, gave in and indicated they will back Infantino for another term.

There's enough sleaze and corruption in our Houses of Parliament and Main Stream media - we don't need it in our national sport as well.

Nobody is coming home unless knocked out.

Personally I’ll watch England and Wales games plus Portugal cos I’ve friends there.

I've just been thinking about all the fans who have booked to go to the world cup but when they get there things aren't what has been promised; drinks, accommodations, transport, fan parks etc.

If they complain to the people they booked with then surely they will be entitled to some cash back, as the 'experience' would not be as described. There is also the prospect that if they paid over £100 on a credit card then the card company is also at fault.

Just a thought.

Thankfully for FIFA, the owners of the Budweiser brand are notorious for ducking out of legal action…  

Pfft. The Qatari's don't give a toss. They've got so much money, they don't know what to do with it so will just negotiate a pay-off with Anheuser-Busch.

You can almost guarantee there will be further appalling treatment of employees and the visiting fans throughout the tournament, but if you're going to have a World Cup hosted in a medieval country (albeit one thinly-veiled by modern stuff), you've got to expect medieval behaviour.

The netflix documentary FIFA uncovered is an eye opener, i knew FIFA where corrupt but not on that scale.

This must be the biggest scandal in sport ever.

Half an hour in and I'm shocked... What I don't understand is it's so open and obvious that people were paid to bid and it was so corrupt, surely it would have been easy to just take it away from them 7-8-9 years ago.. Loads of countries would be able to set up ready for a world cup in less than 5 years

I think you’ve missed the point? Nobody is denying that, in fact, the half sensible folk recognise the hypocrisy in terms of the way the country’s are run and the way they treat migrants is similar to say the least.

The one love armband isn’t even the LGBTQ+ flag but the points about fifa still stand. As an organisation you’d be hard pushed to find anything quite as corrupt, with the exceptions of government.

The sheer arrogance and denial of blatant law breaking from Blatter is astounding and the levels of greed, egocentrism and genuine belief that they were/are a political force to be reckoned with is off the scale.

The way the French caved to Qatari money and promises, governments provided with huge sums of cash to simply earn their vote. That’s what people are objecting too, but then when you look at the horrific working conditions, draconian laws, medieval outlook on society and culture, it’s easy to understand why there’s criticism.
