Nobody batted an eyelid if someone left under Fenty but there always seems to be an axe to grind when people move on under 1878.

Jealousy? The need to always find something to have a pop at? Not sure if it’s a Grimsby thing or not but it seems to be prevalent.

GyMariner said "Not true" in relation to someone saying he was annoyed at the goings on in the office and you originally accused that comment of "Not true" of being a guess, implying that there is something going on in the office.

And if they have an axe to grind then that’s down to them, I don’t get it but their voices are in the minority.

Every single business in the world contains unhappy people, to suggest ours doesn’t would be naive but it doesn’t mean it’s the fault of 1878. I’d suggest the years of low standards at the club have caused a slight culture shock to some.

FWIW I thought Sam was an absolute asset to the club and our social media was always worse off when he was on holiday. Hope he gets something else fixed up soon and he thrives in that.

I’m really not bothered about who knows what. It just winds me up seeing people stir the pot about anything they can get their hands on when you know for a fact it’s a load of excrement. We’ve a club full of good people. A proper non story.

Except Sam was at the heart of dragging the back offices out of 'the 90's' and the rollout of the new OS, ticketing, Mariners TV, Twitter snips etc. Many Exiles struggling with ticketing site log ins, site outages and the like had excellent service from Sam. Never met him but every issue I had with all of the above was answered, often in his own time.

I suspect this is simply a case of a good professional moving on. As the saying goes 'If you want something doing, find a busy man' He will certainly take some replacing. Good luck Sam.

Clearly Sam’s a talented lad and looking at the stuff he’s good at he could well do that for someone else and get paid more or even work for himself.

Maybe the problem was pre 1878 there wasn’t enough people in the organisation who were ambitious and maybe the departures we’ve seen make way for an improved level of talent.

As for those knocking 1878 (who are IMHO building something accessible to all and for the betterment of all stake holders and the community the club sits in) and having a pop being a Grimsby thing I have to say I was born here and I’ve lived away in various places of the UK and the narrative of knocking those who better things or themselves is something I’ve not really experienced with such regularity and fervour other than in my home Town.

In a recent interview with DN35 Jason Stockwood said he creates workplaces that, ideally, are so good that you never want to leave.

But, at the same time, if you're able to create that kind of workplace, people will develop professionally, excel and want to move on.

And he said he'd never stop people moving on.

I don't know Sam, never spoken to him, but he'd been there for six or seven years I think, and given he served most of that time under the Fenty regime, I'd say he's leaving for the reason above.

Not true. In simple terms, Sam did absolutely everything for GTFC and work never stopped for him, quite literally. An absolute credit to our club. It was his dream job but you can’t imagine the money reflects this? Some people just want their lives back!
Good to read. Sad to see the lad go.

If that was aimed at me then you missed by a mile. I wasn't excrement stirring, just passing on some info I was told from within the club.

So you have gossiped about information, not from the individual themselves, but from someone else who allegedly works within the club. Not that this other (supposed) person couldn’t have their own agenda, or be spreading stuff around to try and stir sh8t, or because they know you are going to come on here and peddle their agenda for sh8ts and giggles.

If that is not sh8t stirring then god knows what is 😂
