No, I was never used as a human shield, but it's totally irrelevant to the point.
There is a link though. Very unstable , traumatic pasts in childhood can lead to long term scars and unstable thinking patterns. Mike Tyson was another famous boxer who had a horrible past which caused him long term problems later on. Think of it as  growing up in a deep hole. You need right guidance and a strong will and deep persistent desire to want to change for the better. If you apply these principles things do turn for the best .

From what I saw on Saturday the police were as much to blame as this guy was. Two police were escorting him out relatively easily, then 10+ came charging in and turned a relatively tame incident into a full blown scrap.

Idiotic stuff from him to react, but he’s not paid to supposedly ‘keep the peace’ and I’m stunned the video of the copper laying into him hasn’t been more widely shared on social media.

not what I saw from the other end. Looked like he didn't want to go and the 2 coppers were starting to 'struggle' and then all the others came running to assist them. After that it degenerated with other town fans joining in and ended up with BOTH sides throwing punches at each other

I guess Saturday was another classic example of the bizarre ways in which football is policed and so forth. You had an increased number of officers in the ground, clearly at the request of the club.

You had an inconsistent search policy again, this alone pisses people off; I didn’t get searched but the two blokes with me over 60 did, neither of which fit the made up profiles they take about.

The police frog marched someone in front of his own fans when they could’ve gone an alternative way, likely drawing little attention, and then, as usual we saw a police response of addressing violence with violence.

It was similar after the game.

I’m not condoning behaviour of people, nor saying there shouldn’t be a level of consequence but equally, the police seem too stubborn to change their approach, regardless of it not really working, not properly anyway.

I’m aware this isn’t all police forces but there is a theme across the football landscape. Not just in this country either, I’d advise folk watch the panorama about the champions league final…

I thought there was a lot of Police there on Saturday and I saw on a couple of occasions they could have stepped in to defuse situations rather than wait for them to flare up.

All that said if you’re stupid enough to take and walk around with a class A drug in your pocket you get what you deserve. No matter what people think about “own personal use” somewhere along the line someone has been put upon in the production of that drug or will be with the proceeds from its sale.

Non football but cannabis should be legalised immediately and sold in licenced shops with THC % stated. Anyone who disagrees is entitled to their opinion but it’s ignoring the science.

Have you met people who smoke a lot, particularly when younger? I met a friend of a friend who used to smoke weed constantly until he was about 30. He's now like a zombie that can't think, by all accounts he was a bright young lad. I'm sure in moderation it's not too bad, but people can't be trusted to do that.

Like a lot of people, I’ve had my fair share of shít to deal with in life, but I believe that you own your own experiences. Positive or negative, you have control over how you deal with them, and whether they manifest as positive or negative positive traits in your character and values.

If you grow up in a violent or abusive household you can either choose to mirror that behaviour as an adult, or you can use your first-hand experience of physical and emotional pain as a force to do better for those close to you.

I’m sure there are psychologists who would disagree with me, but I don’t accept “the same thing happened to me” as an excuse.

As noted though Poojah I genuinely think people can change for the better no matter how hard there life has been but the right guidance and effort on their part has to be forthcoming. Likewise the journey to recovery in various degrees will have dips and setbacks for anyone .

I would add though that each case is different and some have to cope with far more trauma than others eg why there is suicides and suicide attempts.Tragic but you cant give up hope which suicide people did.

There are far far more people debilitated due to alcohol abuse in this country than there are people who smoke/vape cannabis. I smoked on probably 80% of my days from about 16 to 27 years old and I still smoke occasionally and I'm absolutely fine. It affects different people in different ways and I think if you have an unhealthy relationship with cannabis then the likelihood is that making it illegal won't do diddly squat as you'll find it and buy it somehow or your inability to deal with your addictions will just manifest itself in some other form. Limerick Mariner is right. It should be legalised, regulated and monetised. We're ignoring a huge boost to the economy by not doing so.
