To be fair, I think it's a reasonable interview. Can't really argue with much of that and he's right about Green, he was lucky not to get sent off.

I too thought it was a decent interview, I was expecting a lot of moaning and blaming officials, etc.

Even Green acknowledged he was lucky, no way was that a penalty in the second half.

I think that he’ll still be in a job for a good while yet I’m afraid.

As much as I don't like the bloke I think it was a very measured and honest interview.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I agree what other have said, he accepted the red card was justified, he wasn't claiming a penalty and yes, he thought Green should have been sent off, but then so did most Town fans.  He also said, rightly, that these things would basically be little more than excuses.

On the other hand though, there was not a single hint of recognition that we played well. When a team puts three goals past you on your own patch you would have thought you should at least get some credit, no matter how grudgingly. But no, not a bit of it.

The truth is that we deserved to win. It's a shame he couldn't take it on the chin and bring himself to admit that the best team won.

I think when an opposing manager says "would I have been asking for a red if that had happened to one of my players? yes", he's being fair

Given his reputation among town fans that was a very measured interview by someone who has just lost 3-1 at home
