Just had a look, I knew Stockport had had a few sending offs (as indeed they did when visiting BP last year which surely cost them the 3 points). In just 12 league games they have had an incredible 4 sending off! To be past the quarter mark ofbthe season and have had a full third of games involve one of your players being sent off is pretty appalling.

They say a team is a reflection of the manager though, so perhaps no surprise that they have turned out to be a tempestuous and ill disciplined side.

I've said before that I was really disappointed to see challinor get a win last Saturday as I think he might have been in the last chance saloon this Saturday if that had been the case. Such a shame that we are unlikely to see the grim reaper wield the scythe now even if we do beat them.

Nothing against Stockport as a club just, well, it's challinor, a complete flipping prize girl private

We had a period when we had a few sent off in a short run of games. Was it 3 or 4?

We also had a player sent off for headbutting his own team mate.

Didn't Conlon manage to do that on his own at one point

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

Looking at the standard of referees you’d have to look at each sending off in isolation.

Easy to look back on it now with anything but anger, but it at least gave us two endearing images.

Firstly Giles Coke looking like he's about to rip Payne's head from his shoulders.

Then secondly the actual issuing of the red card, with Doig stood next to a sheepish Payne who knows full well he's about to feel the wrath.

Have a look at Dave Challinor’s yellow and red card record as a player. He didn’t have a bad record. In fact for a defender to be sent off only once and average about 6 yellow cards per season shows the exact opposite of what you are saying.

With that ramshackle shed-type building and the empty hose reel it looks like the ref has turned up at Payne's back door to show him that red.
