Flipping heck. Well over a hundred fans killed in a stadium in Indonesia following a stampede after a football match:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/oct/02/indonesia-football-fans-killed-east-java-arema-malang

Sounds as though there was some violence and the police waded in with teargas which led to the stampede, crushes and suffocation. Shocking stuff.

Have you seen videos?? Oh my god! The police are out of control. One policeman or army guy (dressed in soldier uniform) Kung Fu kicks someone in the back of the head as he's leaving the pitch (running away from the police) and one policeman has a massive pole and is whacking intercourse out of someone who trying to casually walk off the pitch.
They shouldn't be on the pitch, I'm one of those who 100% is against it. But that force is rediculous

Not seen that but can easily believe it.  Was a video here in Vietnam the other day and a couple of traffic cops pull over a 16 year old ( i think he didn't stop immediately) they laid into him.  One took his helmet off and started smacking him around the head with it.  Complete knobs.

Just watched it.  Coppers too heavy handed.  The police chief said tear gas was fired because the fans were attacking police.  However, they fired it into the stands so fans were fenced in.  How were they attacking police?

To be fair if you watch the beginning of it all, the fans are wrong for going on the pitch but as soon as the police came the fans tried to run away. Very very little of them reacted back at the police to begin with

Pretty normal still in S.E Asia for cops to be heavy handed and do whatever they want. It's often bad in Thailand too from what I've seen where cops regularly go overboard and throw their weight around. Mind even in Korea and Japan that would be classed as much more developed it's only in recent times that cops were banned from beating somebody during an interrogation which often led to them getting false confessions. They still carry large wooden sticks around and use them however.

Seems like in the FIFA guidelines they are not supposed to have tear gas in stadiums anymore but the government response seems more concerned with banning fans from stadiums and not the fact the cops acted against what the civilised world considers appropriate in a stadium.
