Sacked by Chelsea. Just shows how tough it is at the top and managers need instant results when mega money is being thrown around

Bless him. Am sure his severance package will make up for any sorrow

Agree on the above, but so strange to me that he's been backed so heavily during the transfer window, got the players he wanted to get, and some of them haven't even played a game for him yet and he's gone

I’m not sure he wanted those players. Often at these daft clubs the Sporting Director signs players, then hands them to the manager. Antonio Conte at Spurs said so much the other week - it was the club’s decision to buy Djed Spence, not his, he didn’t even ask for him.

Anyway, any club who pays £62m for Brighton’s left back when you’ve already got Ben Chilwell in the squad clearly has more money than sense.

Should be able to buy a new cart horse to replace Hercules and go back in to the rag & bone game

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Huge fallout with the board after the Southampton game apparently. New owner, same culture. I’m sure Tuchel’s bank account will reflect just how disappointed he is though.

"Falls to Arnold... Arnold! That's it! Thats it! He's sealed it! Grimsby Town are back in the football league!!! Just a minute to go and Nathan Arnold makes it 3-1! Look at the scenes behind the goal! Look at the relief! The agony is finally over!!!"

It looks as though their number 1 target is Graham Potter at Brighton. It was only a matter of time before a ‘big 6’ club came in for him; it will be interesting to see if he fancies giving up the security and sensibility of Brighton for the insecurity and riches of Chelsea.

If he does, it will be interesting to see if this has a domino effect down the leagues. The most like for like replacement for Brighton would be Steve Cooper at Forest, who presumably would see that opportunity as a step up. Where would they go from there? I can’t see it filtering all the way down to League Two, but it could be an interesting few weeks ahead.

Here’s a plot twist for you. What if Brighton don’t go for Cooper and instead plump for Nathan Jones at Luton, who was assistant manager there for a number of years and is very well regarded by them.

Would Luton, who have clearly been following our progress whilst monitoring McAtee, and who seem to have an open dialogue with us, fancy Hurst? Their board will be aware of him from our Conference days.

I think that’s an unlikely but not impossible scenario. If it came to be, would Hurst take it? I believe Luton’s owners have similar values to our own.
