Bournemouth sack Scott Parker in a row over transfers and 'running the club sustainably', just four games into the season and three days after 9-0 Liverpool embarrassment.

How our paths have changed since we beat them in the Auto Windscreens Shields Trophy Final at Wembley in 1998, I think we were the favourites that day as well.

Mind you, Mel Morris pumped £200 million into Derby and look how that panned out.

He basically gobbed off after getting pumped 9 (nine) - 0 at the weekend thinking it would squeeze some more cash out of the owners. Wrong.

The bloke spunked an obscene amount of money in January and only just crawled over the line despite having a massive lead and games in hand over the chasing pack. I don’t think he’s much cop at all.

I'll never forget that day when they beat us penultimate game of the 2008/09 season but due to other results we stayed up and a certain unmentionable person was embarrasingly carried off the pitch at shoulder height!

IIRC they started that season on -17 as did Rotherham and Luton started on -30.

You would have thought that staying up by virtue only of other teams points deductions would have been enough to warrant a change of approach. But no. same old same and we went down the next season.

But hey hoe, it's all water under the bridge now. He's gone, and we are moving forward.

Even more cringe than that for me was parading the Town players, one-by-one, at the front of the Main Stand press box the following week at the end of our final home game.

Celebrating abject failure like we’d won the league was absolutely bizarre.

My brother jumped from the bar onto Eddie Howe after the game in a Bournemouth pub singing 'Matiners' - got thrown out by the bouncers.

Very true. If it had been a level playing field that season we would have gone down with Chester instead of it being Luton.

I don't think for one second plucky little Bournemouth are finally considering the sustainability of their club, more just a good excuse to get rid of a manager who probably isn't up to the job and already has two PL relegations on his CV.

They'll be back down in the second tier signing three or four new wingers at £20M a pop next season. The sooner they fail to get promoted back to the Prem before their parachute payments run out the better for me.

According to an old paper I re-read before throwing out this week, Bournemouth only stayed in the Football League by beating us.  Presumably on the last day of the season.

Maybe they could have gone into NL and we had 2 spells in the PL?
