Most clubs do these sort of trips now for various reasons. Much like overnight stays and the like. It’s not about spunking cash, more about preparation,

I like the way the game has progressed though Aldi. In the 1980s  and even 1990s it was common for players to drink and diets were poor. The likes of Arsene Wenger changed this culture at Arsenal  to one that was far more professional eg better diet and tried to limit the drinking culture. Others done the same eg the Italians at Chelsea . Players though from what I've read in autobiographys and the like really appreciated it and felt performances improve.

At times though there still appears to be a residue of that drinking culture from bygone years still present in the English game though far less than what it was.

There were 32 on the trip. 31 in the photo, and the cameraman.

There's a few Jason Lee's in that photo

I think it was a good idea seeing as we have a few new players , what a great way to bond with your new team mates.
They all seem to have behaved and probably feel like they’re playing for a club that values and rewards them for their efforts

Your?

Not a fan of pineapple?

Am I missing something? I’m aware that Jason Lee was a black footballer from the 80’s/90’s who used to receive taunts from fans about his haircut  - said to resemble a pineapple. What’s that got to do with the team photo and what does the original remark - ‘there’s a few Jason Lee’s (sic)’ mean?

Not sure why the OP has been red crossed here. Pretty sure they were saying its a good thing, a sign that we now do things properly and don't penny pinch!

I'm not sure why Red Crosses exist. The other week a Cancer Charity Request on this site was Red Crossed. Why? What kind of people Red Cross anything?.
