Tweeted 'back soon' pictured in Town strip , then deleted. Is there anything in it.

It's understandable that he looks back so fondly on that time he played with James Morton and that French bloke from Forest in front of no crowds.

Major deja vu with this, sure he’s done the same thing before not too long back. Imagine it’s one photo he likes & just so happens to be in a town kit. Edit: Here look - https://forum.thefishy.co.uk/Blah.pl?m-1624222442/s-0/Can imagine he’s probably short on photos of him in a first team setting, wouldn’t look too much into it

It's not just school kids and students who have had their academic and job training pathways trashed. Owen's demographic have had even less opportunity than normal to show what they can do in senior football. On top of that, he had to contend with the Holloway debacle and a long commute away from family and friends.
I thought he showed bags of potential as a No.9. Strong, pacy and keen to test the keeper. Having said that, all his loans have ended early for different reasons and he seems to have taken his release from West Brom to heart reading what the manager at Carlisle said.
Shame we had such a short pre season and Hurst is very much looking to bring in experience where he can. A week's training back with people he knows like Coke, Clifton, Waterfall, Ben Davies and Dave Moor might have helped him overcome his disappointment and homesickness. Who knows, he may end up at Walsall or Solihull.

What did the Carlisle manager say?

Understandable that, I'd imagine West Brom fed his ego when they signed him and then being told he's getting released probably did hit him hard. He looked a bit tough around the edges but he did look promising to begin with. He might be the kind of character that would thrive under a less chaotic manager.

Tenuous musical link warning:-
Whilst cogitating on Windsor's future and West Brom history, we Hillsborough residents have been enjoying an excellent set from Madness at the Tramlines Festival. Google tells me that they channelled Ska music along with the Two Tone label based in Coventry. Every day a school day!
In my ignorance I always wondered why Ska Face chose his moniker. Anyway, the crowd are singing Sweet Caroline followed by Five Hundred Miles and other anthems as the show winds down. Just as the rain stops. Good to hear the young 'uns having a good time finally.

I was just well into that style of music when I first started posting on GTFC forums and it’s just stuck since then really. That would’ve been on the old, old official site messageboard around 2003, so going back nearly 20 years now. Mental when you think about it.

Thanks. I do think that the mental affect on a young player who has been released from a premiership club is potentially massive. They go from big wages and an expectation of a career in the prem or maybe championship to suddenly having the real possibility that if it doesn't work out for them at their next lg1/lg2 club it could be their professional career over.

Now that we have Brendan Kiernan who is a trained counsellor, and also a mentor to young players released by clubs, as well as Giles Coke, this is the sort of player we could take a punt on as they would have so much support

It's easy to forget the lad is 20 years old, at 20 I was out most weekends pissing my wage packet up the wall after watching Town starting to tumble down the divisions, before snacking on a kebab late at night and then rolling out of bed on a Sunday to play five a side. These young lads are expected to be grow mentally very quickly, and not all of them can cope in the way more senior professionals would. Windsor was a kid plucked from the South West, thrust into a Premier League academy in the Midlands and ended up very quickly having three loan moves that clearly didn't turn out for whatever reason. I'm sure finding out he was getting released he probably felt his dream was crumbling. I agree with Paul Simpson, stay up in Carlisle, maybe play a bit, at least then he could put himself in the shop window, but sadly sounds like his head had gone. I thought early doors he looked decent for us, he took his goal at Cheltenham very well, I very much doubt he will turn up here, I would imagine he will end up more closer to home and at NL / NL South level, either way I hope he gets sorted.

Hopefully he takes a leaf out of Kiernan's book and works his way back from rejection.

You'd think he'd be looking at getting himself set up somewhere such as Solihull if he's in that neck of the woods (assuming he can't get a League club around there). They've a good record of developing players who end up in the League, one way or another.

Agreed with what people are saying RE: Windsor. Showed glimpses of potential here whilst not blowing anyone away and his record suggests it’s been similar elsewhere. I’d have no qualms with us taking a punt on a 20 year old with potential, who hasn’t proven himself yet. Could go either way of course, in five years he could be established in the Football League or playing in the tenth tier who knows. Worth a risk as a third/fourth option.

Isn’t Sean Scannell doing something in this area too?
