This will probably end up in non-football but whatever.
Waited for the bus to go to BP tonight at Brighton St that was due at 18:51 on the Stagecoach App, didn't turn up, yet again.
Walked to the high street to get another bus and luckily there was one sat there, my wife got a sprint on (she's 61 I'm 62 with a dodgy knee) and was about 5 foot from the bus when it pulled off, he must have seen her in his mirror.
Finally got a bus and arrived at the ground 10 minutes late.
Coming out of the ground we didn't see one bus both ways as we walked all the way back to Brighton Street, poor.

Stagecoach are shocking, they run a terrible service across the local area, in other areas, the local bus provider operate football special buses, put on extra buses etc before and after the game, Stagecoach in Grimsby do absolutely nothing of the kind.
Totally unfit for purpose

I'm not a regular bus passenger but my girlfriend is. Always messing about with services and skipping busses. Completely unreliable and it cannot be defended. It's not fit for purpose and needs a complete overhaul.

Its a favourite trick of bus drivers, thats happened plenty of times to me and seen happen many a time to other people. My mum is 80 and uses the buses alot, she has complain to me recently about buses not arriving at Hardy's Rd, when the digital bus display states 2 minutes away.

Some of the drivers are jerks in general around the area. Had a huge argument with one who didn't stop at my stop after I pushed the bell, the sign for "stopping" was lit up but he carried on driving and I stumbled forward to get off at the next available with my pretty dodgy knees. The driver insisted I didn't push the button and argued the entire time with me, said that he looked at me to see if I was getting up and didn't...Yes because of pain in my knees due to an old injury and arthritis I prefer to wait until the bus has stopped so I sat expecting him to stop and not speed past my stop. It was his attitude and defensiveness more than anything, if he'd had said he made a mistake that would have been the end but it's like he was enjoying shouting me down when I complained he missed my stop even though I pressed the bell.

It’s amazing how Stagecoach, significant donors to the Tory party, keep getting these gigs.

Drivers are leaving Stagecoach all the time locally. Seems they aren't a great company to work for and can the drivers earn more with far less hassle delivering food. They have been missing buses out of the timetable for months now and as it takes ages to train drivers up I don't expect any changes any time soon. Public transport is in a he'll of a mess in this country.

My GF drives buses in Scunthorpe although not Stagecoach. Stagecoach drop buses all the time and there's no reliability at all . As one previous poster said about them doing the off when running to catch a bus, this has happened to me many times but it's nothing to do with the company and everything to do with the driver's personality. As the other half says, some drivers are just arseholes who dare not bully you to your face

Its no better here in Stoke, we have First and D&G. The local council pumps money into them constantly to just to get them to keep running the services they barely do at the moment and they wonder why everyone drives

I'm sure most buses have signs advising you to remain seated until the bus stops.

The Stagecoach app is a right mess as regards Willows/Wybers and the No 6. Although you can track the bus on the app map it never appears at the upcoming arrivals at the app stops even when you can physically see the bus! I went to the depot yesterday to point this out and a rep there said to ring customer services which is based in Perth, Scotland. When I pointed out if he could contact them through the company he said that that was their only way to highlight problems as well! Totally crazy when a company as large as that has no internal mechanism to deal with a simple problem.

Worst Group are supposed to provide most of the services in Donny. In the 19 years I've lived in Thorne I've seen a rapid reduction in services from six an hour to two going into town. It becomes one an hour in the evening. Every timetable normally sees a further reduction. Couple that with the hourly train service from Thorne North reduced and no trains until at least December from Thorne South. That will be a year without trains from the latter. As for getting over to GY, TPE are an utter disgrace.

Be grateful you don,t live in Grantham. Centre Buses are pants. No buses after 6pm, no buses on Sundays. When they miss a bus out it is an hour between buses on main routes. Work in the town centre and you often can,t get home as last bus is missed out regularly.
Anyway don,t worry the Government are going to level things out.

Bring back Grimsby Cleethorpes Transport.
Bring back Cleethorpes Transport and run it from Pelham Road' My dad and his his family put in 200 years between them on the horse trams' the trams, trolley buses and the diesels in their days. On a Saturday afternoon there would be more than twenty ' footy specials' parked outside BP waiting to take the fans home. Oh, and about forty drivers and their conductors on the Constitutional End terraces cheering on the Town. On duty or not dad hardly ever missed a game. Those were the days !

Public transport needs a government who are on board and willing to properly fund the service for the good of the populace. Outside of London, we don't have that.
I've been to many European countries where public transport is just so much better organised (not to mention cheaper). This isn't necessarily a left/right political thing, it's about having an understanding of the importance of public services.
Unfortunately, can't see it improving any time soon. Even if we were to have a change in government and the new bunch were willing to make the necessary changes, it would take years to reverse the wrecking.

Absolutely, for generations successive Governments (wearing red and blue, ickle bit of yellow for a bit too) have watched on as public transport services have gone down the shitter. At times they've even facilitated the decline. It is non-football now but bringing it back to GTFC, a decent transport infrastructure is essential for the sustained growth of this club, be it at Blundell Park or elsewhere. Wider than that, any hope of a genuine green agenda is futile without it. Yes, it will take time to bring back a transport system that's fit for use and even longer for people to trust it and use it, but the longer we wait the harder it's going to get.

This has always been my point, and whilst a local ground wouldn’t necessarily solve the appalling public transport issues, it does mean many mor folk can walk etc…

St.Lucian taxi drivers are the worst I've ever known. Went there a few years back for a friends wedding and we landed one side of the island with our resort on the other side. We had a taxi transfer arranged and I've never been so scared in my life as the dirver hurtled across the mountainous island at what seemed like 90mph. Took me most of my holiday to recover before the trip back!

It’s amazing how Stagecoach, significant donors to the Tory party, keep getting these gigs.
Stagecoach donated heavily to Labour in the 90s and recieved huge sums in grants from the Blair government which anabled them to rapidly expand and buy out hundreds if not thousands of smaller local operaters like GCT which is how we ended up with them monopolising bus services in our area.
