Turn the collar white instead of that horrible green and that'd be an ace shirt

Shoehorning green in for no other reason than pleasing the sponsor. Badge and sponsors are a bit bunched up too. I’ll give it a miss.

intercourse knows if people complained about Dixon's and orange. Probably given you're complaining about this. But yes it's obviously how it works. They're not giving us money as a charity are they? All the 'value alignment' is great but they also want to increase their profile and be more profitable and are giving money to us for us to help with that. I also think the club will be thinking about aligning to green energy and renewables with the hope of attracting more investment given what's happening in the area.

Think it looks quite good, sponsor being so close to the badge aside the colour choice is nice. A different spin on a common away kit colour for us even if people will moan about the green. I'm sure having the sponsors represented as a colour in kits is just part of the brand recognition they want out of it. Young's just happened to be blue and red so you'd never have noticed it since they are colours we have traditionally used in times people remember the most.

I don't care about the green supposedly being 'bad luck', or the fact that it may or may not be there because of the sponsors...just don't like that luminous green and reckon if it was white instead it's look well classy, like our late 80's/early 90's away kits

Agreed re the stripes.

Anyway, seems that the players are walking around Cleethorpes with it on...guessing it's some sort of guerilla marketing thing, which is cool

Exactly this. You can still have the token green bit on the myenergi badge - it’s just unnecessary and ruins it for me. If you’re going to go green go all out and have it all green or don’t bother. You’re not allowed anything but positive opinions about designs on here though anymore apparently 🤷‍♂️

Of course you are - you have done. And others are equally entitled to like it or think it's a good idea to attract new sponsors by working with them.

Could’ve been worse, could’ve been better, it’s serve it’s function fit the players…

Meh, its a basic blue away shirt with a weird lime green because of the club sponsor. Its neither good or bad

I don't mind Roy Keane making £60,000 a week. I was making the same when I was playing. The only difference was I was printing my own - Mickey Thomas

The area you are trying to protect at corners is the goal - Chris Kamara

I once said Gazza's IQ was less than his shirt number and he asked me: What's an IQ? - George Best

It’s very ‘unbalanced’, sponsor and badge are far too close together. Pleased I went to get the home shirt as that’s a cracking shirt.

Bring on the third kit!

I like the shirt apart from the collar - reminds me of the saying "blue and green should never be seen" lol. Don't think the green bits go with the rest of the shirt.

Was going to get a shirt as I get a tenner off with season ticket but probably don't think I'll bother with this one personally

The home kit has a designated area for the sponsor and that’s much lower.

Others seem to like it so it might be a personal preference, as long as enough like it and it sells, all is well.

Like that there’s some different colour on there to normal. ‘Random blue/random red’ combinations have gotten tired, and the nicest shirts we seem to have had recently have been the ones a bit more ‘out there’ (I liked the pink érrela for example). Nice to see that even though they’ve gone with blue they’ve added a twist. Love it.

Christ, surely you don’t buy a replica shirt in order to look fashionable? It’s bloody sports wear… it’s for playing footy in; it’s not for going to a discotheque in!

I really like that, I quite like the green tbh, adds something a little different to what we’ve had in recent memory. I agree it very much reminds me of the Solihull lit but to be honest, I’m more than happy to be reminded of them in any regularity given the memories it resurfaces!

I do wish that style collar was on the home lot too but I’m impressed with both designs so far.

I’ll get slated no doubt with comments like ‘who gives a excrement, as long as he plays well’ etc etc and whilst I would agree, this is just a personal preference thing, but really hope McAtee isn’t going down the seemingly popular route of socks half way down the shins this year, just don’t see the appeal.

Anyone any insight into the colour/rough release dates of our third kit?

#UTM

Venezia have done very well for themselves.

Venezia have forged a brand through constant social media barrage and getting involved with the Mundial crowd…and they’ve got countless kits. It’s intercourse all to do with the team or playing and completely about getting some hipster twit from Surrey wearing a 30 year old jumper and some battered reeboks.

Football shirts are ultimately for the players to wear, if people don’t like it, don’t buy it, simple really isn’t it.

Football shirt makers have stock templates, they just regurgitate them with various colours, even the top clubs hardly have inspiring kits…

Fenty wouldn’t have done that because he and his acolytes did intercourse all to try and drag the club forward so we’d still have a excrement deal with Youngs and just a kit, but still have stacks of them in the club shop having only sold 2000 season tickets looking at another mid table non league finish…

The green thing is a flipping made up member and bull story anyway…

Fenty wouldnt have had myenergi sponsoring us in a deal worth a hell of a lot more than youngs were paying
We would be a NL Club with 2000 gates

Why have you brought him up?

As I said just a thought,  If the previous  regime had not  asked fans re the badge and also  adding  green to the shirt , ignoring the  legend/  myth   what would of happened.  Plus where can I find how much  new sponsorship  is worth. I'm just asking .

I really like it, a bit different. Never going to please everyone, but the fact we are arguing about how good an away shirt is probably tells us there is not much else to complain about at the moment!

Son really likes it as well so that's one birthday present sorted!

I'm a fan. Personally, I like the green trim, think it offers something a bit different on previous colour schemes and prefer this collar to the home shirt. Had to look again for the sponsor, I didn't notice that the first time round but once you've noticed it it's hard not to focus on it, I think it's a touch close, if we're free to nitpick then I'd drop it down an inch or two.

As HarrogateMariner said, if the particulars of an away shirt are the height of what we have to fuss over and complain about then what a time to be a Town fan!

No but I think that's the point people are making. It's an opinions thing but in the grand scheme of things where the sponsor logo is located on a shirt has no bearing on absolutely anything that will contribute towards earning points on matchday. The fact a few people have noticed and commented on it with personal preference, for others to then bemoan or question that view shows how far we've come in terms of what we have to be divided over. If that's the height of our summer disagreement within the fan base as opposed to how the Club is being run from top to bottom and how every poor every aspect was then it reflects just how good the new owners have performed in their short time.

Agreed…let’s face it, not two summers ago we’d played zero pre season, has signed Sunday league players, hadn’t cut the grass, had one ball, an owner with intercourse all idea, a charlatan for a manager and a club desperate for covid to curtail a season Becauee they couldn’t be arsed…all whilst the owner cosied up to his new fraudster mate which he wanted involved with the club…likely seeing us go the same way as bury…

Could be worse eh?

I've not bought a shirt on release since about 2001.  I don't wear them to games and generally they're just not for me.  Fair enough people do like and buy them.

But I really like that away kit.  To the point it's the first one I've been tempted to buy in a long, long time!

You really think Fenty was sat there designing kits or even really had a say on them during his tenure?

Also re the badge, as they said at the time of launching the new one, there were countless different variations of it kicking about all over the ground and on our comms/web presence which made us look all over the shop and unorganised (funny that, eh?), so they wanted to eventually replace everything with one unified badge.

By all accounts nothing happened at the club without going through Fenty's micro-management system.

One of the first things 1878 did was to try and change that culture to allow staff the chance to operate under their own steam, but also time to adjust.

I like the new away kit. Reminds me of a Wimbledon kit but with a green trim instead of a yellow one.

On a side note, I love the front of the home kit but that massive block of black on the back of it that I only noticed for the first time during the Clee Town highlights is absolutely horrible. Looks like we're playing in bibs from the back.

Even without them on there you can tell it's gonna look crap though. Last season was pretty well done with it just being a reasonably sized circle with a white stripe all the way up on either side. All down to personal preference I guess though.

If Fenty had just had the year that the new owners have produced I don't think anyone would give a flying F about a bit of green trim and a flag on a badge .

Your "simple" question is just that . We'll never know the reaction but I'm guessing if Fenty had created the feel good factor around Grimsby and the wider area then I'm sure he would of been supported.

I don't think so, he did things his way, the words of a famous Frank Sinatra song come to mind :-

And now the end is here
And so I face that final curtain
My friend I'll make it clear
I'll state my case, of which I'm certain
I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more
I did it, I did it my way

Regrets, I've had a few
But then again too few to mention
I did what I had to do
I saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much, much more
I did it, I did it my way

Yes, there were times I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself then he has naught
Not to say the things that he truly feels
And not the words of someone who kneels
Let the record shows I took all the blows and did it my way
