Yes, 3.00 p.m. on their calendar but no news item yet. Site good at telling you what has happened such as games so far against SWFC, County and Solihull Moors but naff all welcoming Grimsby!

I’m going believe it’s £10 adult ticket. Only an hour away from me plus I pick up my new car Saturday morning so makes sense to take it for a spin.

Random memories of last year's Alfreton game:-

Decent playing surface
Dayle Southwell still had pace and skill at this level.
Rhead enjoys his bad boy status.
Revan very hard working up and down the left side.
Coke lucky not to have been sent off for a rash tackle.
Power cut meant no chips for Mariners fans!
Jason Stockwood wandering amongst the fans.

This year?

Danny Preston revisited.

Good to see Morris straight into the action. No Green yet, Coke still filling in on the bench. Wearne fit enough for the bench so hopefully he'll be ready in two weeks.

Think that's quite close to our starting XI at the moment, and I think this is the game that Hurst said would be the point where they ramp up the minutes.  Expect to see most of the starters getting at least an hour.

Best I can find is Telegraph match updates:

15: GOAL: Town take the lead from the corner as the ball is only half-cleared and after it is sent back towards the far post, McAtee sends a cushioned volley into the net.

These sort of pre-season games, you wouldn't expect a player with any sort of a minor niggle to be considered or risked so I'm not too concerned about the absences. I do think we're very reliant on Taylor to lead the line, however, so he'd be a miss if not available. Hopefully, a younger but similar model will be incoming before the season begins in case he's not fit, but, if not, I'm sure Orsi will do his best. Didn't hurt us too badly at the start of last season when both Taylor and LJL were absent/unfit following injuries!

Interesting. He is clearly still looking for a center half and striker.

It also shows the importance of a good squad too. We are only in pre-season yet we already have Taylor, Khan and Maher injured and Wearne not fully recovered yet.

Just one of those things I suppose re: Maher, got to get the games in. At least we know 2-3 weeks before the start of the season rather than a couple of days.

Centre back will be sorted apparently, striker less so.

Good workout with result never in doubt. Actually felt sorry for Alfreton losing Rhead to injury in a practice game. They don't have many players and probably over committed themselves playing SWFC, Notts County, Solihull Moors, us and then Chesterfield as a build up. Giant Tom Denton was never going to run far in that heat either.

Thought Morris was exactly as described by Hurst. Industrious, no frills with an eye for forwards moving into space. Holohan looking to pounce on chances around the box, Orsi making runs,  drawing defenders and winning free kicks. Never got a clear cut chance like Cleethorpes but worked his socks off.

McAtee is just classy. Makes intelligent runs, drops deep when midfield is light and links in well with Harry and Glennon. Harry is the proverbial machine. The conditions were nothing to him.

Too little time to judge Wearne. Also not fit yet. Interesting cameo of Michee at centre half!

Ignore Telewag scores out of ten.

On that note, Andy Smith came on as a second half sub in Hull's game against Fenerbahçe but never came on in their second game against Malaga.

I don't think this one is anywhere near dead in the water, despite what Hurst may have nodded towards in a recent interview.

Edit: On the day Hull's first team faced Malaga, Smith was in a relatively young side playing Brighton's Under 23's.  Perhaps a strong indication that having had a look at him, Hull's management don't feel he's quite first team ready for them yet.
