been various comments on other threads about what away support we might expect and what our average gates might be - thought it might be useful to have a separate thread , so here's the average away followings from Div 2 last season
930 Bradford City 807 Bristol Rovers 725 Swindon 681 Tranmere Rovers 658 Port Vale 633 Mansfield Town 613 Oldham Ath 568 Walsall 529 Northampton 503 Exeter City 491 Hartlepool United 469 Rochdale 456 Carlisle Utd 415 Leyton Orient 351 Newport County 347 Barrow 268 Colchester Utd 252 Scunthorpe 213 Sutton United 190 Forest Green 146 Harrogate Town 135 Stevenage 128 Crawley Town 120 Salford City
there are some surprisingly good followings there , which may well have implications for our hopes of opening the Osmond - obviously we expect Bradford, Donny, Stockport and Mansfield to bring big numbers , but look at the numbers taken by Swindon, Tranmere, Northampton, Walsall,Hartlepool, Rochdale and Carlisle - there's potentially 11 games where they could exceed 500.
i couldn't find any similar stats for the NL but I've guesstimated that in total there were c6000 away fans over the 22 games (average c270). The League 2 averages out at c450 , so that's another nearly 200 to be added on to our average gate, without any increase in home support

i think we were nip n tuck with Wrexham, and the numbers were similar to Bradford. I'm sure Les Brechin did some figures every so often, but i couldn't find them

In the National league we could sometimes count the number of away fans just prior to kick off so having these good numbers of away fans is good news for both finances and atmosphere. I think either behind the goal only or the corner only should suffice depending on the opposition if home demand for tickets is high - the more home fans we can get in the better.

For the four teams relegated to League 2 on a site I looked at
Doncaster 552 AFC Wimbledon 536 Gillingham 470 Crewe 380
Presumably if any of these teams are challenging then they may bring more
On a side note MK Franchise despite coming 3rd only managed 620

I worked it out to be 902 based on attendances published and estimates away attendances not including the cup or playoff games.

The Wrexham fan who was totting them up didn't have time to carry it on unfortunately. Pretty sure we were on around 850 or something last time he did them.
