Had a very good season in the conference the year before last with Maidenhead. Goal every other game in a team that finished lower half. Obviously didn't work out last season but he's still young and he's a big lad as well.

Good scoring record at Maidenhead and Harrogate. Difficult to score many for Borehamwood, who set up to win games 1-0.

Looks a decent signing.

Interesting that Hurst wanted to sign him last year.

Hmm. Why wasn’t he getting a game for Harrogate last season?

I think they changed there manager maybe?  i haven't checked, but injury, out of favour, Foxy only played 22 games last season and DLK was loaned out.  So could be similar scenarios.

Was up there with Tshimanga season before last. Could be a very astute signing this.

From the clips I've seen looks more like a goalscorer/poacher sort of player, in the mould of Amond - remains to be seen whether he can deliver on that level but from what little I've seen looks like he could be a very astute signing

Just theorizing here, but if rumours are true, we were in for him last season, only for him to choose Harrogate, possibly because of their league status. He mentioned in his interview that playing league football has always been an ambition.

He's a southern lad, so perhaps he got a case of the Longe-King's and couldn't settle.

I know we are a northern team too, but not as far north and a much more exciting prospect than Harrogate, especially now we are a league club too.

As I say, only a theory and if he can find his scoring touch from the season before last, then we may have a gem.

Has Hurst ever signed a front man that people haven’t said they’re a little underwhelmed about? They’re always underrated, understated and often not on anyones radar, they play for Hurst and boom! They’re decent…

I dunno. On paper, just not excited. Harrogate were lower mid table last year and he couldn’t get in that team. Mani didn’t get a deal despite an outstanding scoring record but this lad does. I trust Hurst but seems a bit of an underwhelming one for me.

I wouldn't worry too much about that - if Hurst sees some potential there then we should know by now he's usually right. Remember Padraig Amond....

Maybe Mani wanted guarantee he would be in the starting eleven, rather than as super sub.

We have to move on, Fox see his future elsewhere, they go with my blessing, thank you for the wonderful memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life.

Look at this way, a few weeks ago, you would have never dreamt we would be playing league 2 this season.

We have to trust Hurst & Co to get it right.

No shirt number announced yet, I suppose? If so, it's difficult to know where he's likely to stand in the team. Is Hurst expecting him to be a first choice player or is he a new Mani, there to add numbers in the squad and offer an option off the bench?

The showreel looks OK. All sorts of goals in there, but doesn't look to be somebody who is likely to be playing with his back to goal too much.

Never understood when posters “question” the quality or pedigree of a new signing other posters jump on their back. All managers, including Hurst, will make bad signings ( Burgess & Jones recent examples) who are not ultimately good enough. The good thing about Hurst is he’s normally pretty quick to identify when he’s made a mistake and moves the player on.

On paper this signing doesn’t get my juices flowing, like signing Tom Eaves would, but equally Mani didn’t look great on paper but did a great job for us. As with any signing I like to judge them after ten games, if they are picked that often, before forming an opinion but accept we all have different opinions on respective player’s qualities hence why I’m puzzled that some posters believe Clifton and Hoolahsn would make a central midfield good enough for L2 whereas I don’t think either of them are good enough for regular selection at that level but would be excellent squad members.

I suspect your on the right lines here.

If we make a couple of assumptions, firstly we will play the same system next season and secondly we are seeking to bring in similar types of players to those involved in the 1st team squad at the end of the season and were then released/not offered deals, then my guess is that this is the new Mani.

I am quite underwhelmed by this signing, though I suppose if he’s a squad player it won’t be the end of the world.

What concerns me is his recent spell for Boreham Wood in the league below. He seems to have had a good goal scoring season for Maidenhead, but other than that hasn’t really done much else.

He looks a good signing to me.  Has scored goals at Lg2 and NL looks a tidy player, but as we all know its how the player fits into the environment / team, hopefully he its the ground running.

Showreel looked good - some very tidy finishes in there.

If we'd got him last summer we'd have been well chuffed. One bad season doesnt mean he's a bad player (Waterfall). He could tear it up for all we know.

He hasn’t scored goals at L2 level. That’s incorrect.

Ah so his goals for Harrogate was in NL?  one of the vids on youtube i've seen one was against Hartlepool looked like Lg2 to me, still a good signing.  And Wiki (if its credible) shows 10 app 1 goal for Harrogate this season.

He scored one L2 goal. He scored goals at NL level, was signed by a middling to poor L2 club, scored one goal and was loaned back to the conference because he couldn’t get in their squad, and where he didn’t really do much. He might turn out to be ace. I hope so. Just doesn’t strike me as an exciting, progressive signing.

Let’s have it right…..you said he’d scored ‘goals’ at L2 level. He hasn’t. He’s scored ‘a goal’.

The Boreham Wood wheels fell off once they lost to Everton and as someone said earlier, their game plan revolved around grinding out 1-0 wins. Dieseruvwe had a terrible record on paper but look what Hurst got from him. If we can retain Taylor, I think he can learn a lot from him on the training ground.

Would Tshimanga strike you as an exciting player last summer? Because this lad scored the same amount of goals…

He’s had one season last year where it hasn’t worked.. in which you have absolutely no idea why that was. Seems you’re literally basing you opinion on googling him and looking at his Wikipedia..

Give the lad a chance.

I remember lots of people being underwhelmed by the signing of Dieseruvwe and his 1 in 10 strike rate.

The guy averaged a goal less than every 70 minutes.

Barring one 15 match run, Mani's scoring record is pretty dreadful and decidedly worse than Orsi's. Yet he did pretty well for us.

I wouldn't worry too much about that - if Hurst sees some potential there then we should know by now he's usually right. Remember Padraig Amond....

He might leave a legend, he might leave and we forget about him six months later. That’s League Two football.

If Hurst likes him there’s usually more to just his previous record that he likes and it’s reasonably rare that he gets a signing wrong. Welcome Danilo.

The fact it’s so early in the window suggests he was fairly high up Hursty’s wish list. If you actually drill down and look at the raw stats, as has been pointed out, his record compares very favourable even against Tshimanga’s who we were all desperate to sign last summer. I realise we’re in a higher league now but this lad appears to have more potential to be a lethal poacher than any signing in recent memory. Reality is, as has been proved many times over, Hursty’s judgement is better than any of ours on here 😂

My Tranny Rovers mate described Mani as one of the worst footballers he’d ever seen. He watched our play off games and was astounded, said he was like a different player. Hurst makes this happen and I’m sure he’ll do the same with these signings, especially Fabregas.

By and large though, the take of fans of the previous club is accurate more often than not. For every Mani there are probably twenty Stefan Paynes who come with a less than glowing reference.

I haven’t read of any observations from Harrogate, Boreham Wood or Maidenhead fans though. What I’ve seen a lot of is people looking at this recent record and, with some justification, thinking erm not sure about this.

I always trust Hursty’s judgement and then judge players with my own eyes.

I haven’t actually expressed an opinion on the player. I’ve asked a couple of questions, said I feel a bit underwhelmed by the signing, and some people, including you, have overreacted.

His NL stats are impressive, and we can all judge him after he’s played some games. That’s all.

I think it’s a decent signing and was pretty happy. I’m not sure what there is to be underwhelmed about. It’s not like we’ve lost Ben Fox and signed Gavin Gunning or Nick Hegarty to replace Nathan Arnold.

Hurst will have spent a long time working on this and the fact he wanted him last year says a lot.

This week we’ve secured the signatures of 2 proven centre backs and a striker who’s has a decent scoring record, this time 2 weeks ago we didn’t even know what league we’d be playing in. Decent start to what is still a strengthening job rather than the usual complete rebuild.

Get Clifton, Amos and Taylor done next week then we’ll add more players that have only been on Hursts radar but will have the credentials & potential to make a difference.

Interesting signing. This time last year he’d of been hot property. Scored more goals in the national league than the likes of Kyle Wootton, tshimanga, dallas, Paul mccallum to name a few. That’s in a very mediocre Maidenhead side.

For whatever reason (suspect having luke Armstrong/Jack Muldoon already in place) , he didn’t get the starts/minutes at Harrogate , although he did manage 6 goals in 6 starts and subsequently joined boreham wood in January. Again, found himself on the fringes but still managed 2 goals in 7 starts. I think it’s clear, if he’s playing games, he’s clearly got something about him to get goals, the stats certainly show that. Time will tell how much of a part he will play for us, but we mustn’t forget we’ve lost dieseruvwe/abrahams/Lenny in the summer and only have Taylor and mcatee, so clearly we need numbers, as well as quality.

As always, it’s always best to judge a player when they’ve had a run of games, rather than on Google

We had 2 spots to fill with manni and Abraham's gone, potentially 3 if Taylor goes. So he's only going to be one of the strikers we sign. If the rumours are true and we also sign winnall, I'd be pleased with our options.

Looking forward to seeing him play, decent size lad and baring last season - has a pretty impressive goal record.

As somebody mentioned above, I think the key point is that he's probably going to be 1 of 3/4 Strikers at the club next season. So far we have him and Taylor (providing he signs), so at the very least 1 more to come on top of those.

I'm looking forward to seeing the squad take shape over the next few weeks, things are going to have to move pretty quickly with pre-season fast approaching.

Like others have said LJL, Adlard, Mani and Abraham's have all left in the striker position and we now name 7 subs this year so Danilo could be 1 of 3 more strikers we bring in this season.
Think he looks decent. Scored alot of goals in a mediocre Maidenhead side. Has a 1 in 3 record at Boreham wood and Harrogate despite limited appearances and may well benefit from a regular run and good coaching from Hurst/ Doig/ Davies.
Good size and a bit of pace with an eye for goal plus wanted by Hurst last year. You'll do for me.

And still, some fans of other clubs have branded him as not that good because he only got 14 goals. Thus proving the theory that plenty of football fans don’t know anything apart from looking at the goals scored column and using that as the main way of proving a players worth. It’s so daft.

Look at him in the play off semi, scored a real quality goal and his play for Taylor’s goal was excellent. In the final he was on his backside one minute spotted space and 15 seconds later it was 1 - 1.

From what I’ve seen on the show reel of Orsi he looks like he’s switched on and reads play well, just like McAtee, we just need Taylor to sign and I think AN Other and we’ll have the strike force sorted out.

Excellent signing and well worth a punt. This is not a Holloway random signing, Hurst has been watching him for a while, my gamble , he will be good

I expect Paul Hurst's knowledge of this player amounts to a bit more than two minutes of "research" on Wikipedia!

It also says you have to let the manager work his magic.
PH hasn't the luxury of buying in-form ready-to-go players. He has to double guess that (A) the player that is on a free because although didn't play well, can play well/much better with motivation. Not easy.
But from what I can see PH is trying to stiffen the defence, and protect Crocombe, who I feel protects his area better than McKeown did, but needs work on his reflex stops.
I feel good up to now with Maher and Orsi signed up. Bring on season 2022-23 I say.

Looking for some magic signing in midfield next, there are spaces to fill and accurate crosses will be required, along with some strong running.

Hoping that we can get Raikhy back to make more progress.

Striker - Where did the Muldoon rumour come from?

Someone of that ilk with a League 2 scoring record would be a real coup.

Whoever comes in within the next week or so could be a catalyst for the hesitaters who haven't resigned yet.

Plenty of speculative names being thrown down in the Forum, but who would have foreseen young Danilo sneaking through the door?

We still look to be aiming at the A list thus far, and Hurst looks to want a good season and not struggle near the relegation area.

Forget the Telegraph - these are the pages to be reading !!

At the start of last seaon I seem to recall we were all commenting on the lack of strikers in the squad. With this signng we are now looking very strong in this department.

Orsi is a Podge type player. Needs a good passing midfielder to bring the best out of him. Not his fault he 'failed' at Harrogate. How him Taylor n McAtee can work is 1 thing I'm scratching my head over, but obviously ph has a) been chasing him for over a year , b) still wants to sign him and c) obviously has  a plan to make it work

have a look at the showreel and spot how many times the stocky black no. 6 midfielder shows up in providing passes for his goals

That would be my guess. I can only go on that youtube video but he seemed fairly happy playing with his back to goal and bringing others in to play. They may be used at different times depending on the opposition etc.

Hopefully we may get into the wonderful position where we are not going to be sure who the first team is because our bench is strong too. The fact that at the end of the season we could bring players off the bench that made an impact was one of the main factors that got us through the play offs.

Not often town sign a player and you can’t find a single comment from a fan of former clubs with their opinion of the player
