I have got a massive amount of respect for Waterfall regarding the way he changed his fortune's around at town. Exactly the type of character and player we want to keep hold of. Delighted he is staying and its a 2 year deal. I am sure that under a proper manager he will do very well in league 2. Seem to remember he was decent under Jolley - must be the only Jolley signing left, not including Clifton as he is from the youth.

Great news. Colossus last season and a fine leader.

My player of the season last year, so well chuffed.

Wonder if Hurst sees him and Maher as first choice pairing?

Been in the bag for a while but maybe they were saving this news to offset losing Ben Fox as even after tabling an improved contract he had better offers elsewhere. It's a good boost to have the captain staying on as he was an important player for us last season, a good leader and example on and off the pitch. Hopefully his signing will encourage others to commit that still have contracts on the table as a lot of the team last season get on with him.

Maybe he does have a point to prove with L2 after the one miserable season but I'm sure he'll perform better in what is a much better side with a ton of morale on the back of a successful season. That team was always set up to fail with the sort of people they were bringing in. He's already proven a point in the last season with how important he's been to our success over the season and in the playoffs, kind of character you want in any team, doesn't whinge, always works hard in training and leads by example.

Quoted from Madeleymariner
Meh, lets hope it was being in a poor team with Hollow man wrecking his confidence last time he played at this level. Good to keep part of the spine in place as was a v important player for us in the end.

His record before it suggests he's more than capable of playing at League Two level.  He was excellent for us at the back end of the curtailed Covid season.   Had a good season for Lincoln in their first season back in the league and then was a regular for Shrewsbury in League One.

Excellent signing.  Player of the Season for so many, absolute rock at the back and chipped in with god knows how many vital goals.

Great news. Was very critical of him last time we were in League Two like many others but he's been an absolute beast this season and a big reason why we've gone up and think he'll be a great asset under proper management & culture.

As a side note, I just glanced at my Spotify 'now playing' on my other screen and noticed a certain song by The Stone Roses was playing. An omen perhaps?

Just need Cropper to sign now and the double act not so secret weapon will be complete!

As has been said had a great season. A candidate for comeback player of the year. Full credit to him.

A good signing and having a mobile ball playing centre half alongside him like Maher looks a formidable partnership.
